ASCAP Expo set form April 23-25 in Hollywood

The 4th annual ASCAP “I Create Music” EXPO, the premier conference for songwriters, composers and producers, will be taking place at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood, California, April 23-25, 2009. The three-day conference covers all genres of music and includes panels, workshops, master classes, keynotes, song critiquing, networking events, product displays, state-of-the-art technology demonstrations, performances, and more.

Several panels will focus on topics relevant to today's pop, R&B, hip-hop and rap music creators. Some highlights are:

· "I Create Music" Interviews with Jeff Lynne and Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart.

· "We Create Music" – a super panel featuring songwriter, musician and producer Wyclef Jean; songwriter, performer Natasha Bedingfield; composer Sean Callery; OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder; and country songwriter Craig Wiseman.

· On the Radio: Today's Hitmakers with Antonina Armato; Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald; Mikkel Eriksen and Tor Hermansen (Stargate); and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, Dan Wilson. Moderated by Ron Fair - Chairman - Geffen Records. These writers and producers, who between them are responsible for millions of sales, downloads and radio performances, will share their knowledge and insight.

· Hip-Hop: Making it to the Top with Shondrae "Bangladesh" Crawford; Drumma Boy; J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League; and Skillz. Learn from some of today's most talented Hip-Hop writers on how to get noticed, the importance of finding the right producer, and how to make it in the business.

· Generations: A conversation with Chaka Khan, who will be interviewed by singer-songwriter and actress LeToya Luckett.

· A series of Master Sessions featuring songwriter Richard Marx; composer-producer Marcus Miller; rapper-producer Pete Rock; and songwriter Billy Steinberg.

· The Art of Collaboration: A Live Songwriting Session with Cri$tyle "The Ink" Johnson; James Fauntleroy; and Brian "BK" Kennedy. Learn what makes for a successful collaboration in this live songwriting session. This panel of top chart-topping writers and producers will show how it's done by creating an original song by writing to an existing track and explaining the creative decisions they make along the way.

· Following Your Muse with Mitchell Froom; Jesca Hoop; and Greg Kurstin. Moderated by Chris Douridas - DJ, Host - KCRW's New Ground; Music Supervisor. Learn from this unique group of songwriters and producers how staying true to one's muse may ultimately reap the greatest rewards.

· Apple: Logic Studio VIP Songwriter Talk with Ryan Tedder.

· Spanning the Genres with songwriter and recording artist Johntá Austin and songwriter and producer Warryn Campbell. Their collective perspective on writing hits across the musical spectrum will make for a fascinating and educational discussion on creating modern popular music.

· Pop/Rock, R&B/Hip-Hop & Mixed Genre Song Feedback Sessions. Engage in honest talk and receive valuable advice from chart-topping songwriters from a variety of genres in song feedback sessions where a limited number of songs pre-submitted by registrants will be given feedback in front of an audience.

· Pop, Rock, Urban and Everything In BeTween with Jamie Houston; James Poyser; and Andrea Remanda. This panel of professional songwriters, all of whom have enjoyed success in a variety of genres, such as pop, Urban and rock music, have also achieved creative and lucrative heights in writing for the "tween" market, which marketers define as young people, ages 8-12, who are no longer little children and not yet teens, but who nevertheless love great music. Learn about the opportunities available in this growing arena.

· "I Create Music" - Center Stage featuring great live music from this diverse and successful group of ASCAP songwriters: Paul Williams (performer/host); Siedah Garrett; Alejandro Lerner; Dan Wilson; and Craig Wiseman.

· "I Create Music" - Quiet on the Set featuring a diverse and successful group of ASCAP songwriters on the rise: Rory Feek; Jason Reeves; Lenka; and Jesca Hoop. Hosted by Dan Kimpel - Music Journalist, Author –"How They Made It: True Stories of How Music's Biggest Stars Went to Stardom, Networking in the Music Business.

· Round Up: The Writers and Producers Jam featuring The Hooters' Eric Bazilian and Rob Hyman; Holly Knight; Narada Michael Walden; and Emanuel Kiriakou. This successful group of songwriters and producers will share their fascinating stories behind their work and will perform them live in a fun, stripped down, in-the-round setting.

· Every Song Tells a Story with Gary Baker; Stephen Bishop; Jack Tempchin; and Wendy Waldman. This panel of top songwriters have all written work that has become part of the "New American Songbook." Hear them perform their songs and tell the stories behind their creations.

· ASCAP EXPO iStandard Producer Showcase. ASCAP and iStandard are pleased to present this new showcase opportunity at the EXPO specifically for producers in the Hip-Hop, Pop, R&B and Dance realm. Eight EXPO attendees, whose tracks were pre-selected by iStandard, will showcase 5 tracks (instrumentals or instrumentals with choruses) before a panel of judges, including: Shondrae "Bangladesh" Crawford; Drumma Boy; J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League; and Skillz. This event not only benefits the participants, but any aspiring producers, writers, artists, engineers, managers, and various other music industry affiliates in the audience.

· ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO Attendee Showcase. ASCAP is pleased to offer another exciting another opportunity for EXPO attendees to get their music heard. EXPO attendees can enter their music for a chance to perform at a special showcase by submitting a link to a live audio or video performance located online accessible by a website link (such as a website or any other site where a live performance is currently posted and publicly available). Submissions are also being accepted onsite at the Indie Power booth until noon on Friday, April 24! All music genres will be considered. Whether chosen to perform or not, the Attendee Showcase, is the perfect opportunity to network and make connections at the EXPO.
