Savio Rego's new album is now available

Savio Rego is the living embodiment of what can be accomplished if you pursue your dreams. Having left behind careers as a pilot and then in banking, this Californian singer-songwriter has gone back to his first love – music.

And having sold over 2,000 copies of his first album on the back of little more than word of mouth, it is time for him to make the breakthrough into the big time with a new single – ‘My Valentine’.

‘My Valentine’ is the kind of pop record that music lovers wish there were more of. It is a singer-songwriter’s record, but contains all the best elements of blues, jazz, soul and folk. Yet it’s everyday story, poignant lyrics and catchy melody will also satisfy the discerning end of the pop market.

Having honed his craft with his self-penned, self-produced debut record, ‘All I Want’, this single is the sound of a man ready to take on the big time.

Rego, whose influences range from Pearl Jam to Sade by way of George Benson and John Mayer, began playing music as a teenager, but only after leaving behind two successful careers did he realise that he was good enough to make it.The world should be thankful that he reached that decision, for banking and aviation’s loss is most certainly music’s gain.

Born in Bombay, India and raised in San Jose, California, Rego’s life is the very definition of fusion. And that mix of cultures and influences is reflected in his music. ‘My Valentine’ is the perfect example of a record made by someone who does not see music defined by rigid genres.
It is also a record that, if there is any justice in this world, should catapult Savio Rego from internet stardom to global superstardom.

‘My Valentine’ is available from April 15. You can catch Savio Rego performing live at Mint, Los Angeles’ premier venue, on April 21. Don’t miss out.
