Rock the Earth lends green hand to music festivals

For the fourth year in a row, Rock the Earth will play an integral role in the environmental programming at the largest music festival in the United States -- the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, TN, June 11-14.

Rock the Earth will host a series of panel discussions, artist interviews and musical performances on Bonnaroo’s Solar Stage and will also present a series of environmental films at the festival. The new “Green Screens presented by Rock the Earth,” will feature award winning films focused on water, mountain top mining and protection of the Colorado River. In addition, the organization will also be coordinating the first-ever, large-scale music festival mobile phone recycling campaign at this year’s festival.

Moderated by Rock the Earth Founder and Board President Marc Ross, and presented on the Solar Stage each day at 1PM; the theme of the panel discussions will be "Social Change Through Music," and will explore the synergies between the artists that create music, and its interconnectedness to the environment and the world around us. Confirmed panelists include Erykah Badu, Danny Louis (Gov’t. Mule), Al Schnier (moe.), Will Sheff (Okkervil River), Vieux Farka Toure, Ben Sollee, Eric Johnson and Ryan Rightmire (Turbine), Laura Sohn (AC Entertainment), Rebecca Lichtenfeld (WITNESS), Bob Ferguson (Oxfam), Andy Bernstein (Headcount), Paul Faeth (Global Water Challenge), Sally Palmer (The Nature Conservancy), Jasna Brown (Green Mountain Coffee Roasters), and Justin Levy (Conscious Alliance).

Rock the Earth will also conduct “Storyteller” interviews with musical performances by Del McCoury and Friends, Patterson Hood, Ben Sollee, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and a special one-on-one interview with Brett Dennen.

Green Screens presented by Rock the Earth will deliver a series of environmental documentaries each day in the Cinema Tent, featuring very special guests.
