Anerican Lung Cancer Association to host Fight for Air Climb in LA April 24

The American Lung Association in California will host its 3rd Annual Fight for Air Climb on Saturday, April 24 to raise much needed funds and awareness for the fight against lung disease. Formerly known as Climb California, this event challenges individuals and teams to climb all 63 floors to reach the top of downtown Los Angeles’ landmark Aon Center skyscraper. This unique challenge attracts climbers as young as 8 and as mature as 80. Fight for Air Climb is the only event where people can ascend the nearly 860 foot skyscraper all the way to the rooftop.

8:45 am to Noon (first wave of climbers goes up at 9:00 am)

WHY: More than six hundred participants will climb all 63 floors of downtown Los Angeles’ landmark skyscraper to raise awareness about lung disease. Participants include:

· Michael Cartmell, who is climbing for his younger brother Mark. Two years ago, Mark was diagnosed with renal cancer that has metastasized to his lungs. Michael credits the American Lung Association’s efforts in funding research for new drugs that has helped extend Mark’s life.

· Lisa Ziegel, an ex-smoker who is climbing in memory of her father who passed away from lung cancer. Lisa credits the American Lung Association for helping her quit smoking.

· Susan Opas, who is climbing in memory of her father who passed away from lung cancer at the age of 58.

· Team Guapas, a group of Latina women who are climbing to bring awareness to the dangers of lung disease.


ADMISSION: Online registration is open until 4:00 pm Friday (April 23) at www.FightForAirClimb.org. On-site registration at the event will begin at 8:00 am Saturday morning (April 24)
