Philip Vaiman and The Red Quartet in concert Feb. 18 in Santa Monica

Local classical music impresario and violinist Philip Vaiman and his label Talia Records are please to present the first in a number of unique music and cultural events, called the Los Angeles Seasons Concert Series. The debut event will feature The Red Quartet, a unique ensemble of guitar, violin, cello and vocals whose music ranges from early classical to decidedly futuristic. They will do three sets with guests - the storied classical Russian String group, the Borodin Quartet, Los Angeles’ top jazz vocalist Dwight Trible and hot funk/soul/house spinner, DJ Mando Fever.

The event will take place Friday February 18, 2011 at 7pm at the Santa Monica Bay Woman's Club, 1210 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401. Pre-sale tickets for the event are $25, or $20 for students, and are available at www.theredquartet.com. Tickets at the door will be $30. A portion of the proceeds will benefit two charities, One Light International and the Robin Harris Foundation. The event will also feature an art exhibit and silent auction featuring paintings by Gia and Javiera Estrada. In addition The Red Quartet will also sign their upcoming self titled CD release.

The Red Quartet are a departure from the usual string quartet set up as they feature a guitar player, Kenton Youngstrom, and vocalist Marissa Steingold, in addition to the violinist Philip Vaiman and cello player, Maksim Velichkin. The group has been performing in Southern California for several years at prestigious venues including the Clark Library and the Bruman Chamber Music Festival at UCLA, the Summer Sounds Classical and Jazz Series in West Hollywood and the Colburn School’s Zipper Hall. The members of the Red Quartet are all top session players in Los Angeles and have played with artists including Sting, Dave Matthews, Aretha Franklyn, Tony Bennett, Taylor Swift, Goo-Goo Dolls, Rod Stewart, Shakira, Pearl Jam, Guns N' Roses, Andrea Bocelli, Placido Domingo, Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban, John Legend and KiSS.

The Borodin Quartet commands a special position of respect in the chamber music world. In existence for more than 60 years, it has preserved a unique performance tradition, focusing on the masterpieces at the very heart of the quartet repertoire. Its interpretations are celebrated for their intensity and focus, a style in which individualism dedicates itself to the collaborative spirit of chamber music and total service of the composer’s wishes.

Dwight Trible is a singer who combines the best of vocal virtuosity with musicianship and improvisational skills to the delight of audiences and musicians alike. In addition to performing with his group, The Dwight Trible Ensemble, Dwight is the Vocalist with Pharoah Sanders Quartet and the vocal director for the Horace Tapscott Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra. Additionally he has performed and recorded with numerous jazz and soul greats as well as releasing several acclaimed albums.

Longtime Los Angeles nightlife stalwart, DJ Mando Fever got his start in the Latin house music scene before moving on to long career in hip hop and creating the musical atmosphere in some of Hollywood’s top celebrity nightclubs. More recently he has returned to his roots with a residency at the monthly party Descarga, a Latin themed event where the music includes classic salsa, cumbia, vallenato, roots-reggae, boogaloo, funk, son montuno, punta, freestyle, deep soulful Latin house, world rhythms and beyond.
