Claudia Nygaard in Altadena Jan. 24

From L.A. to Nashville and back again...
Claudia Nygaard
at the
Coffee Gallery Backstage January 24th!

Armed with a new CD that charted in the top ten on both Folk and Country charts last summer, Americana singer/songwriter Claudia Nygaard is coming back to her roots... her southern California roots that is. Nygaard was a well known fixture on the music scene in Los Angeles prior to making the move to Nashville, TN; winning the pick of the players poll two years in a row from Music Connection Magazine. Cutting her teeth at the World Famous Palomino in North Hollywood,

Claudia performed at clubs from the beaches to the valley before moving on to performing at fairs. She then played the Pomona, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Orange County fairs for years running, and also the Del Mar fair, where she was a regular opening act on the grandstand shows. Soon she was playing fairs up and down the west coast. She was also writing songs during this time, and won several awards from Los Angles songwriting competitions. That prompted her to bring her songs around to Hollywood music publishers who advised her to make the move to Nashville. She did, and landed a staff songwriting job there on Music Row.

She never stopped performing though, and regularly tours all across North America and Europe. She has become an engaging performer reviewers have dubbed "Will Rogers without the rope" for her quick wit and affable connection with an audience. Claudia's new CD "Let The Storm Roll In" has received high praise from both domestic and international press. Touted as "one of the finest singer/songwriter/storyteller collections in recent memory" (Wildy's World), and "one of Americana music’s hidden gems” (In Tune, The Daily News), it was also just awarded five stars from Maverick Magazine, an important roots music trade in the UK. Over the holidays, it was added to the in flight play list on Lufthansa Airlines.

Nygaard's songs "rival the likes of Guy Clark or Ian Tyson in their plainspoken, memoir-like quality" (Sing Out Magazine), but she also writes songs that are sexy, funny, heart-warming, heart-wrenching, and sometimes uplifting.

She'll be performing Tuesday night, January 24th at the Coffee Gallery Backstage, 2029 N. Lake, Altadena, CA 91101. Showtime is 8 pm, and the cover is $15.
