The Shillaly Brothers in West Hollywood Jan. 13

Oscar Song Contenders’ Celtic rock band The Shillaly Brothers will be performing live at the Rock & Reilly Irish Pub located at 8911 Sunset Blvd. West Hollywood, CA 90069 Friday, January 13, 2012 at 7:30pm (free admission for all SCL and Guild members) featuring their original song “Pop”. “Pop” is on the short list for consideration for Best Original Song from the film White Irish Drinkers, starring Steven Lang, Peter Riegert, and Karen Allen.

White Irish Drinkers, written, produced and directed by John Gray, follows Brian (Nick Thurston) and Danny Leary (Geoff Wigdor) in Brooklyn during 1975, who are busy pulling off petty crimes in the hopes of one day leaving their working class neighborhood. Both yearning for the culturally approved 9-to-5 Civil Service jobs and escape from Paddy (Stephen Lang), their abusive father, Danny plans a major heist that will set them free. With Brian in toe, the two plan to rob a local theater on the night of a Rolling Stones concert. As Danny goes forward Brian hangs in the shadows; these two are forced to pull of the heist of a lifetime.

The Shillaly Brothers are an LA-based Indie rock band with a unique sound that blends elements of Celtic, rock, folk, punk and Americana influences. This alternative band is quickly becoming one of the top Celtic bands in the U.S. The Shillaly Brothers include, John Duffy, Chad Carrier, Rex Bailey, and Fred Studier. With a lineup featuring a ukulele, accordion, tin whistle, and mandolin/ bouzouki, they are rapidly gaining an audience in the U.S. and abroad. They have been showcased at The Knitting Factory, Hennessey’s, and Club Five 0 Four.

“Pop”, which plays over both the opening and closing credits of the film and is featured in the film’s trailer, is a tribute to the kind of father that Brian and Danny Leary never had. Like the film, it’s a tale of struggle and redemption, learning how to get back up when you’ve been knocked down. Voted 8 out of 10 on The Wrap for Oscar contention and over 25,000 views on YouTube by fans worldwide, the Shillaly Brothers are gaining recognition quickly. They are on the Oscars list of 39 songs in contention for Best Original Song for the Academy Awards 2012.

Rock & Reilly is an Irish pub in the heart of Hollywood, located at 8911 Sunset Blvd. Formerly the Cat Club, and London Fog, with The Doors as the house band during the 1970s; it has transformed itself into a Hollywood Hot Spot. Sightings of Nicole Richie, Zoey Deschanel, and Lauren Conrad, are just a few of Hollywood’s finest who have visited this “local” pub. With prestigious acts such as Billy Idol and Slash having previously played the pub, this spot is hard to book. With over 30 Irish whiskeys and traditional Celtic dĂ©cor, you’ll feel like you’re in Ireland (at least for the night).
