The dA Center for the Arts is proud to present Emerging Artists & Community Connections. Emerging Artists is an exhibition of selected work from PUSD High School students. On display in the Joan Weldon gallery, Community Connections exhibits selected works from multiple community organizations. These exhibitions will be on display May 12 through May 26, 2012. The dA will be hosting an opening reception in conjunction with the Pomona Arts Colony Second Saturday Art Walk on May 12, 2012, 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
The fifth annual Emerging Artists exhibit is an all student show that celebrates the exceptional work of Pomona Unified School Districts secondary art students and the dedicated instruction of their art teachers. This month long exhibition provides middle and high school art students the opportunity to participate in a professional art show in their own community. This annual exhibition is one way in which the dA partners with PUSD to ensure student access to a comprehensive visual arts program. Approximately 200 students from 30 schools are expected to participate.
On display in the Joan Weldon gallery, Community Connections exhibits art created by community organizations within Pomona. This exhibition includes works by the dA’s Artlink Afterschool Arts Education program, the City of Pomona Cultural Arts Commission Art Mentoring Program, First Street Gallery, Girl Scouts of America, and the Prison Education Project.
