End o' week musings

OK, where do I get in line???

It's been super busy and slightly manic in my newsroom this week. We are rolling out a new computer system and my computer seems to know what's going on and is causing all kinds of problems for me... Then there's training and practicing and working out bugs... Then I have all my regular work that keeps rolling along... Then there's that big manhunt for the former police office who's on the loose after killing cop kin and releasing a wild manifesto. And it goes on from there...

But I digress. Last Saturday I went to a Candlemas party at the home of fellow Ad Hoc Consort members Fred and Joyce. The was a sumptuous spread of turkey and trimmings and lots of good conversation. After everyone had eaten, we had a little jam session. I played tambourine and sang a bit. Good times!

On Sunday it was Super Bowl day. I went to the same place as last year- my friend Brad's house and we played craps while watching the game --- or more correctly watching the commercials. We were waiting for my drummer Ric's big appearance in the NFL Experience "Leon Sandcastle" ad and, although it was short, we were not disappointed. It was a good commercial. Yay Ric!

The game was pretty good too and so were the food and the dice. It was a lively event and everyone was very friendly, so a good time was had by all.

Last night I was back to my Polynesian and Tahitian dance class. Boy! Did I feel out of shape. I've been slacking off a bit on my usual exercise routine because it's been so cold, but I know that I really need to get back to it or I'll never make it through my Ren Faire run.

That's all for now because I have a lot to do today and it's already lunchtime!!!

In rotation this week: Owl City, Terrible Things, Dethklok and Misfits.

Photos we got 'em: Cute animals from the Internet.

Thought o' the week: Breathe. My podmate gave me a pretty painted rock with a sun and the word "breathe" on it this week. I have left it on my desk to remember not to get frazzled and freaked with all the changes around me. I'll get through it, just as my co-workers will.

Having a reminder is a good thing. We make grocery lists, jot down our Internet passwords, even wear a band on our wrist-- all kinds of different ways to jog our memories. Mostly this is for productivity, but it can be used in other ways. For example, I write lists of things I need to do, what I need to take with me where, goals and so on. Putting it on paper helps me remember things, but takes the worry part off my mind.

So here's the question- why can't we remind ourselves to stress less, be thankful, smile more or other things on the same track? There's no reason why not! When I look at my breathe rock I take a deep breath and let all those worries slide away. It's a good thing. Consider finding a way to remind yourself of your good thing... and breathe...

Keep on rockin'
Mickie
