CulturesInternational.com presents a sale of 20th & 21st century traditional and contemporary African textiles and art with 20% of the proceeds benefiting PMH’s Textile Arts Council.  CulturesInternational.com is a Fair Trade enterprise whose founder and curator, Sandra Perry, travels throughout Africa working with local, unrepresented artisans and purchasing directly from crafters, artisans, and families. Work on display will include silks, batik, hand-woven carpets, along with more traditional textiles. In conjunction with the Museum’s current Textile Arts sponsored exhibition I Do! I Do, there will be a special presentation of items of love and marriage, such as special Zulu baskets given as lobola (part of the bride price); Zulu love letters, beaded necklaces given to the man as a token of love by the woman; wedding blankets, and more.
