Named by Billboard as one of the “Best Bets of 2007,” singer/songwriter and charismatic band leader Young Love (Dan Keyes) has been added to the first inaugural MySpace Music Tour, joining Los Angeles-area bands Hellogoodbye and Say Anything, and Japan’s Polysics. The first in a series of projected U.S. tours sponsored by News Corp.’s Myspace, America’s most trafficked website, the 29-city schedule opens October 16th at Seattle’s Showbox SoDo, and wraps up at the House Of Blues in Las Vegas on Thanksgiving Friday, November 23rd. (Please see tour dates below.)
TOO YOUNG TO FIGHT IT, the debut album on Island Records by Young Love (released January 2007), has found a high-energy niche where dance and pop co-exist, as it continues to open doors for its creator across every spectrum of the musical universe. The first single, “Discotech” rose to #2 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart and has been played more than 876,000 times on Young Love’s MySpace website (www.myspace.com/younglove).
Young Love’s current single, “Find a New Way” was chosen as the theme song for MTV’s hit series “Dance Life” (produced by and featuring Jennifer Lopez). A video for the third single, “Too Young To Fight It” was recently directed by photographer Kenneth Capello who, like Young Love, is a Texan-turned-New-Yorker. He made his directorial debut last year with the Kills’ “No Wow” video and “Joga NY” for Nike Soccer. Details of the video debut for “Too Young To Fight It” will be announced in the weeks ahead.
TOO YOUNG TO FIGHT IT has been gathering momentum throughout 2007 – on AOL Music Breaker’s “As Heard On TV,” at Yahoo “Who’s Next,” MSN’s “Ones to Watch,” Clear Channel Online’s “Artist to Watch,” an exclusive listening party at Purevolume.com, and of course Young Love’s MySpace website. Billboard praised the album as “the kind of pop that we’ve been missing… melodic, catchy, smart and as young and in love – with the city, the music, the ubiquitous ‘she’ – as Romeo.” SPIN magazine described “Discotech” as “a sweet spot where Justin Timberlake and Bloc Party could cold-rock a party.”
