Comedy competition tonight

The Comedy Festival (TCF) and Ziddio.com will host the Los Angeles regional competition for “The Lucky 21,” the nationwide talent search that will determine the 21 best stand-up comedians in the country, at El Rey Theater, Monday October 8 at 8:00 pm. The competition culminates in mid-November at the third annual The Comedy Festival at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, where The Lucky 21 will join a lineup including Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld.

Mike Estime and Daryl Wright from The Comedy Union in LA; Rod Man and Butch Bradley from The Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach; Sheng Wang and Mike E.Winfield from Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Club in Sunnyvale, CA; Robert Hawkins and Kevin Avery from The Punch Line in San Francisco; Kermet Apio and Gabriel Rutledge from The Comedy Underground in Seattle and Susan Rice and Dwight Slade from Moxie’s on Main in Vancouver, WA will perform in the hopes of moving on to the finals at The Comedy Festival in Las Vegas.

Beginning on August 30th and ending on October 22nd, any aspiring comedian will be able to upload their stand-up performances to www.ziddio.com to enter the special “Wild Card” round and win a spot at The Comedy Festival as the Lucky 21st comedian. Starting September 3rd fans from across the country can go to www.ziddio.com/thelucky21 to vote for their favorite comedian from each of the seven regional events. The top 20 comedians from the regional events, plus the one “wild card” winner will advance to Las Vegas.

Following The Comedy Festival, video of each participant’s performance from Caesars Palace will be available on www.ziddio.com/thelucky21 for a final round of the contest. Fans everywhere will be able to vote online for their favorite comedian from November 21st to December 5th and will determine “The Luckiest Comedian”. The winner will receive a prize package that includes a television appearance, meetings with network and industry executives and $10,000 cash.
