Coachella is coming! And other tours

Coachella is coming!

Friday
Pendulum
May 27th marks their US debut release (with an exclusive digital release set for May 13th) and after already achieving 2x gold selling status and nearing platinum in the UK, as well as in the band’s native Australia where their album has excelled into the charts with the lead single “Propane Nightmares”.

EarStorm/Atlantic Records has announced the upcoming release of “IN SILICO,” the North American debut album from Pendulum. With the track ‘Propane Nightmares’ averaging 15,000 plays a day on Myspace, Pendulum are that rare breed which finds them opening up for artists like Jay Z and Linkin Park. Thusly they are earning quotes from no less an authority than the venerable Kerrang! who claim “You can see why this band are capturing the imagination of rock fans the world over… Just like The Prodigy - and more recently Enter Shikari – Pendulum have that intriguing cross-over appeal that will make them superstars.” - Kerrang!

Saturday
Portishead
Geoff Barrow, Adrian Utley and Beth Gibbons collectively known as Portishead have kept us waiting a good decade for another album and opportunity to see them live. Now they are venturing Stateside for their one and only US live performance on the main stage in the desert this year. Along with some of our all time favorites, they'll be performing tracks from their new album Third, which is their fourth in total and first since 1998’s 'Roseland NYC live'. 'Third' is to be released on Mercury/Island on April 29th 2008.

Need we say more? It's Portishead, people!

Sasha & John Digweed
When indie rock and cheesy pop dominated the national charts and the underground was desperate for a sound of its own, along came two young British DJ's, both making their mark in the burgeoning UK Rave scene and eager to take an underground phenomenon to another level. A meeting of minds and musical collaboration soon lead them to become one of the worlds most internationally recognized and acclaimed dj duos in electronic music, to this day.

They became the first dj collective and tastemakers to bring dance to the foreground of mainstream music, when in 1994 the inception of their partnership formed as they released the seminal Northern Exposure double disc set which provided a yardstick for all future DJ mix albums, and continued setting trends being the first UK djs to hold a monthly residency here in the US. Sasha and John Digweed have never given in to the mainstream yet have always somehow defined it.Sasha and John Digweed are truly bringing their sonic experience back to the people, and this will be the perfect opportunity for you to get your rave on, in the desert with two of the most influential and legendary DJs of our time.

Enter Shikari
"Enter Shikari...have become the figureheads of a new anything-goes generation...Their marriage of both types of hardcore (techno and punk) and a flirtation with the trappings of rave culture have resulted in a unique combination that fuses the hard-hitting wide-eyed delivery of the Prodigy with the proto-screamo dynamics of Refused...." -Alternative Press

High in energy, defiantly independent, unabashedly ambitious and equipped with a wealth of musical knowledge and a thirst for more. Collectively as a band and individually, each member offers a little something special to the “Mothership” that is Enter Shikari. Onstage, they’re like un-caged animals, roaming the stage and climbing the equipment, simply reaffirming this is where they are most at home, with their fans.

Calvin Harris
Exhibiting a creative and inventive edge, but still undeniably pop, Calvin Harris’s music is already picking up rave reviews and daytime Radio 1 play. Just 24 years old and hailing from Dumfries, this young Scot made his debut album I Created Disco in his bedroom on a battered old Amiga computer. Now touring with a full band and an explosive live show, he sets his sites on the US.Calvin Harris invented disco. No, Calvin Harris reinvented disco. He was Marks & Spencers' (UK's answer to Wholefoods) champion shelf-stacker two years running. He made his debut album fuelled by chicken breast fillets. Now the disco doctor will be providing a remedy for us all here in the USA.
