Compulsion, the debut album from composer Andrew Moore Shannon, is an inspired collection of intricate keyboard compositions and improvisations. In addition to solo keyboard works, it includes four collaborative improvisations in which percussionist David Andrew Moore performs on electronic percussion, alongside Shannon's electronic keyboard.
The album also features two songs: "Annabel Lee", Shannon's musical setting of the Edgar Allan Poe poem, sung by mezzo-soprano Jacqueline Zander-Wall and tenor R. Kent Wall, and the jazz classic, "St. James Infirmary", sung by Shannon himself. The songs provide a literary counterpoint to the instrumental pieces, and the resulting album has a striking dramatic depth.
Compulsion is now available on over 200 download sites worldwide, including iTunes, Napster, amazon.com, and Emusic. It is also available on cd. For more information visit: www.andrewmooreshannon.com.
