The Lovemakers in residency at Silverlake Lounge

Oakland dance-rockers The Lovemakers release the track “See What I Wanna See” on iTunes today in anticipation of their forthcoming album, Let’s Be Friends. On this anthem, Lisa Light makes her priorities known channeling Joan Jett in her “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” glory with the bravado of Katy Perry. Play it loud!

On July 15th, The Lovemakers stopped by the gallery at San Francisco’s Talking House Productions for an open rehearsal with fans to premiere songs from the upcoming album. Lisa Light and Scott Blonde, joined by new bandmates Cary LaScala (drums) and Gareth Lloyd (keys), ran through a blistering set of new material. Early reviews of Let’s Be Friends are starting to come in with Synthesis proclaiming “bass, guitar and drums dashed with synth complement the singers’ interplay for a rollicking sound reminiscent of the B-52s.” The album drops September 8th on iTunes and nationally September 15th.

With an outrageous live show that has established a cult-like following, The Lovemakers have begun to confirm tour dates including a residency at Silverlake Lounge in Los Angeles every Tuesday in August. Stay tuned for dates in September and an East Coast run that includes New York City in October.
