photography show 9-10pm:
MIKE BEEGLE "ANOMABO"
(photographs from Ghana)
Developing his first negatives at the age of 11, Beegle quickly realized his love for the visual medium. Over the last three years, this up and coming filmmaker has traveled around the world developing a body of socially conscious and award winning commercial projects with Effection Media, Director Clifton Collins Jr, The Zac Brown Band, Children Inspiring Hope, Motorola, The Soul of John Black, and many more.
His most recent work is the collection titled, "The Faces of Anomabu: Impressions From the Walls of Fort William." Initially focused on the Ghanaian slave fort’s textured interior aesthetic, the artist discovered, upon return to the states, many haunting faces and animals embeddedin the wall’s aged relief. Many people who have seen these images say the faces are imprints left byslaves once imprisoned in the fort. Through his faces of slavery, Beegle wishes to celebrate Ghana’s burgeoning vitality and to remind us of the dangers posed by modern enslavements.
