Moonday poetry open mic in La Canada Flintridge 4th Sunday of the month

The Producer and Founder of Moonday in the Village are proud to announce a new Moonday poetry series which will take place at the beautiful new Flintridge Bookstore in La Canada at 1010 Foothill Blvd. The ribbon cutting of the new bookstore site will be Feb. 7th at 2 p.m. The first feature of Moonday East will be Hilda Weis, and the inaugural reading will take place on February 27, 2011 at 2 pm.

The original Moonday was established in 2002 and continues its long run at Village Books in Pacific Palisades. Moonday East will provide an additional venue for those who live on the East Side of Los Angeles, as well as for those who simply want more quality poetry for the whole Los Angeles area.

Moonday is hosted by Alice Pero and Lois P. Jones. The readings will take place on the 4th Sunday of every month from 2 to 4 pm. There will be a feature and open mic.

Hilda Weiss is the co-founder and artistic director of www.Poetry.LA, a website featuring videos of poets and poetry venues in Southern California. Her poetry has been published in journals such as Askew, Poemeleon, Rattle, Salamander, and Margie. In addition to poetry, she writes training programs for Southern California Gas Co. She is an active Kundalini yoga student and holds a 4th degree black belt in Shotokan Karate. A fourth generation Californian, she lives, writes and grows her own vegetables in Santa Monica.

The new Flintridge Bookstore and Coffeehouse is located at 1010 Foothill Blvd., La Canada Flintridge CA 91011, at the intersection of Foothill Blvd. and the Angeles Crest Highway. Take the Angeles Crest exit off the 210, turn south, make a right onto Foothill Blvd., and turn left onto Chevy Chase. Parking is in the rear of the store. For more information, call (818) 790-0717.
