NPR Music to air Brooklyn summer concerts beginning June 5

Enjoying free, world-class concerts in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park has been a New York City summertime tradition for more than 30 years. Beginning in June, NPR Music, along with public radio stations WFUV and WNYC, partners with BRIC Arts Media Bklyn producer of the Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival to offer everyone, everywhere a seat at the Park’s packed bandshell. Continuing its tradition of bringing listeners the best live music from across the country, NPR Music is exclusively live broadcasting select performances from the festival throughout the summer at www.NPR.org/music

“I’ve seen a lot of concerts in my life, but never one as memorable as the Celebrate Brooklyn! presentation of Sufjan Stevens in 2011,” says Bob Boilen, host and creator of NPR Music’s All Songs Considered. “So this year, it’s time we share the best of the festival at NPR Music and public radio.”

This is the first time that Celebrate Brooklyn! concerts will be accessible through free, live broadcasts at NPR Music. All live coverage will be available at NPR.org/music and through the NPR Music iPad and iPhone apps. Concerts will be archived for on-demand listening at the site, in the apps and as podcasts. More information on additional coverage being offered by NPR Music's station partners will be available on their websites: www.wfuv.org and www.wnyc.org The current schedule with more to be announced soon:
