With just a little over a month before its inaugural kick-off date in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 15th, the sixth year annual THE REVIVAL TOUR has added Matt Pryor of The Get Up Kids to the line-up, joining the previously announced Dave Hause of The Loved Ones, Streetlight Manifesto frontman Toh Kay (a.k.a. Tomas Kalnoky), Bedouin Soundclash's Jay Malinowski, Rise Against frontman Tim McIlrath, LA's Jenny O., Americana singer/songwriter and original tour organizerChuck Ragan, Seattle-based singer/songwriter Rocky Votolato, and NJ-based singer/songwriter Jenny Owen Youngs. "I've been talking to Chuck about doing the tours for a couple years, but we could never get our schedules to line up," says Pryor. "I'm really glad that it's finally going to happen. I think this is a great way to do acoustic music." (tour dates below).
Loosely structured in the form of old-fashioned folk musician get-togethers, The Revival Tour is an ensemble collective in which the participating musicians collaborate and jam, frequently creating unique and inspired once-in-a-lifetime moments of brilliance – often multiple times in a single night. The critically-hailed tour has hosted Tim Barry (Avail), Ben Nichols (Lucero), Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!), Brian Fallon (Gaslight Anthem), Jim Ward (Sparta), Kevin Seconds (7 Seconds), Audra Mae, and Frank Turner among many diverse and exciting cast of collaborators. The Los Angeles Times hailed, “the vitality of this tour is in the camaraderie--everyone takes turns up front and in support of one another, and the group pairings often make for some unexpectedly moving collaborations.” BrooklynVegan chimed, “In traditional revival fashion, once the music starts this new guard of young, genre-defying, musicians keep it rolling, teaming in and out through each other’s sets until the final farewell of the night.”
Conceptualized in 2005 and coming to fruition in 2008 with the inaugural lineup of Ragan, Tim Barry (Avail), Ben Nichols (Lucero), and a cast of revolving guests, the tour spanned 57 days playing a total of mind-numbing 52 shows. 2010 saw The Revival Tour across Australia with the likes of Frank Turner, Tim Barry, Ben Nichols, Ragan, Jen Buxton, Jamie Hay and Darren Gibson followed by a one performance in Las Vegas with a wide cast of artists from members of Flogging Molly including Nathan Maxwell and Matt Hensley, members of Lucero, Lagwagon and the Adolescents. In 2011, Revival crossed the Atlantic and darted across UK, Ireland, and Europe, playing mostly sold out shows in 1,500 to 2,000 capacity venues. 2012’s tour hit over 33 major markets throughout the U.S. and Canada, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Nashville.
