Power pop party-starters The Friday Night Boys will be performing on the Glamour Kills Tour alongside All Time Low, Hey Monday and We The Kings at the House of Blues in Los Angeles on November 7th and the House of Blues in Anaheim on November 8th to promote their full length, Off The Deep End.
Off The Deep End was released on Fueled By Ramen in partnership with Photo Finish Records, and Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low’s new imprint, The Party Scene. The Friday Night Boys just finished a tour with Cobra Starship and almost done with their UK tour. Late 2008 they released an EP titled That’s What She Said. The five-track EP was highlighted by Chasing A Rock Star, which the band performed live on MTV’s TRL during its unsigned bands episode in July of 2008. MTV continues to show its support, recently including the band in its 2009 Rock Rookies feature.

Thursday adds tour dates
Influential rockers Thursday have announced an extension of their 2009 Common Existence Tour that will include a December run with Dillinger Escape Plan, Fake Problems and Endless Hallway supporting.
The Jersey based sextet recently kicked off their headlining US tour to sell-out crowds along the east coast where they "certainly provided rewards for the faithful" (SPIN.com). The band's current leg of the tour will include a rare, album performance of their fan favorite release, War All The Time, in Los Angeles on Oct 10 and their classic Full Collapse in New York City on Oct 25.
Thursday continue their vigorous, must-see live trek across the US in support of the recently released Digital Deluxe Edition of their fifth studio album, Common Existence, which includes an additional five songs. It all started with a phone call. The X. Best to let voicemail pick that one up! YOU HAVE 1 NEW MESSAGE: “Hey, sorry to call but my neighbor has got to leave L.A in a hurry, he’s selling everything including this old church organ for 50 bucks. Do you want it?”
This was worth the pain of calling the heartbreaker.
“He’s got someone coming later today to see it, I don’t know what kind it is, if it works…it’s gigantic."
“Pay him, pay him now! Put the 50 dollars in his hand!”.
“Okay but the landlord says it has to be out of the basement tonight”.
13 phone calls to piano movers and 50 dollars later four guys were trying to fit this thing through the front door. That was the beginning. “Breakin' The Chains Of Love” was written that night and the inspiration for the record was born. All the pain of splitting with someone poured out into this 5 song EP of 1960’s inspired Soul music.
SONGS FOR A BREAK-UP VOL.1 was recorded entirely in Fitz’s living room, using one crappy old mic. The songs are influenced by ’67 AM radio, Motown and early Hall and Oates records.
Fitz was born in France and moved to L.A. as a child. This half French, half Irish kid fended off the California rays with a lot of sunscreen to emerge as an artist with a vision. A soulful voice with infectious songs, Fitz’s music makes you wanna’ grab a tambourine and dance.

'Black Metal-meets-Throbbing Gristle' band Yoga dishes out Holy Mountain debut just in time for Halloween
If you thought there was nothing scary about yoga, think again! Yoga is a band that's been called a Black Metal version of Throbbing Gristle. The heavy, nightmarish acid-flashback sound of its debut album Megafauna is out just in time for Halloween. The disc is released on the intrepid tastemaker label, Holy Mountain (Wooden Shjips, OM, Six Organs of Admittance.
Understand this: Yoga dispenses a sinister frailty of howling swells in hissing static that combusts into crawling shock heaps, to the effect of Mayhem performing Twin Peaks incidentals in a prairie recorded by The KLF. A brief description casts them as black metal’s answer to Throbbing Gristle. The texture-based rendering of their compositions sails them on a strange sea between song and sound effect as it bobs along the waves like a dead man’s bottled message.
Aspects of Goblin rehearsals in dead hills is interrupted as Monster Zero carves mountain sides with lightning breath. Oscillating leads pummel into churning riffs as if “Caledonia” was performed in an echo chamber near Lodi, New Jersey. The extrinsic properties of this work may result in disambiguation.
Aquarius Records said the following about Yoga's previous EP:
“The sound of Yoga takes the lo-fi practice space recordings of grimmest of the black metal outfits and combines it with the murky, muddy, noise-drenched blur of bands like Wold... even further, rendering their sound so muted and lo-fidelity that even when they’re blasting furiously, it still sounds like a busted music box or an old black metal 78. And then there’s the fact that Yoga spends a good amount of their time not blasting blackly, but instead, crafting synth-heavy Goblin-style film music, all throbbing bass and buzzing synths, creepy minor key melodies, and tons of haunting ambience. Those songs too are wreathed in a foggy night-on-the-moors sort of murk that ties those closely to the more blackened ones.

Omara Portuondo to perform at UCLA Oct. 23
Fans of Cuban songstress Omara Portuondo don’t want to miss her one night only performance at UCLA Live’s Royce Hall on October 23rd at 8 p.m. Omara Portuondo celebrates her recent visa clearance to tour in the United States as she is one of the only Cuban artists to be granted this privilege in several years.
Since her first U.S. tour in 2004, Portuondo explores songs that mark her path from celebrated Cuban chanteuse to international stardom, including aching boleros and new Brazilian-influenced ballads.
From dancing on stage of Havana’s famous Tropicana cabaret as teen, to appearing on movie screens around the globe in “The Buena Vista Social Club,” Omara Portuondo’s career has been full of remarkable moments and unforgettable music. In Montreaux, the International Red Cross appointed her International Ambassador, making her the first Cuban artist to achieve such a distinction; and her album “Flor de Amor” was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Traditional Tropical Record Category.
In the 16th edition of the Billboard Latin Music Awards, “Flor de Amor” obtained the Tropical Record of the Year award in the female category.
She kept up her intense musical activity worldwide and created Gracias, the record that marks her sixtieth year in the music business. Omara’s career is one full of exceptional talent and the careers of the musicians that are to take part in this celebration have been no less impressive.
With Gracias, Omara’s aim is to relive numbers that she has found most moving and to work with the songwriters she most admires.

Charles Phoenix to present "Halloween at the Bob Baker Marionette Theater"
"Charles Phoenix Presents... Halloween at the Bob Baker Marionette Theater!" - Entertainer, author and pop-culture expert Charles Phoenix will use film clips to share the story of Bob Baker's colorful life with the audience prior to a performance of the legendary puppeteer's currently running Halloween show, of Bob Baker's Halloween Spooktacular!, starring dozens of vintage, scary marionettes. The evening will wind up with an appearance by the puppet master himself, followed by cake and ice cream in the festive party room.

Ronny North news
Ronny North has been keeping quite busy by finishing up his new guitar instrumental CD (tenatively titled "Drama Inc") in his studio . Ronny's new single "Tomorrow is Burning" will be released on October 31st, 2009.
The new CD is scheduled to be released in late 2009. There will also be a cool new video for the song with the giant bunnies returning again.
Ronny has been doing a ton of press lately and even featured in a great interview in the October 2009 issue of Rock Thiz Magazine (he's also featured on the cover). He and his band just headlined for the U.S. Vets at their 2009 Standdown event on September 19th.
If that wasn't enough he also just finished helping judge the semifinals for Guitar Center's King of the Blues guitar competition. Ronny will be playing a cool new RN guitar made by Nikita Custom Guitars at his performance on the Nascar main stage at Nascar's Copart 300 Race at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California on October 10th.

The effort, aptly titled "Underneath A Northern Sky" was directed by good friend Todd Bell, who joined the band for a weeks worth of revisiting old stomping grounds, listening to stories of the formation of the band and all the antics that come along with a band who is in their 15th year and counting.
The DVD will include footage of the very first 36 Crazyfists show as well as countless other rare scenes of globetrotting by a band from Alaska who has defied the odds of coming from a place of obscurity to touring and playing major festivals around the world. Along with the live show, ridiculous backstage antics and band member interviews, all the bands videos are also present on the DVD.
