Eternal Summers to tour in support of EP

Coming out of the forests of Roanoke, VA, where the mountain vistas are inspiring but the scene is mostly cover bands, both members of the duo Eternal Summers are a part of the Magic Twig Community, a collective of nine like-minded musicians that cherish boundless creativity and weirdo indie pop. When Yun hooked up with Cundiff, they immediately knew they had the right musical chemistry, and what resulted was something very, very punk. When they call it dream punk, they’re only partially joking. Taut, hooky and often wide-open, their sound is simple but it takes up room. They employ the quietest quiets and the loudest louds—from hazy, clanging reveries to rapid No Wave squalls calling to mind early indie legends like the Raincoats, Galaxie 500, Beat Happening, and Unrest. They’ve received adoring write-ups with the release of their self-titled debut EP, available on 10-inch vinyl: Pitchfork called “Lightswitch” a song“you need to hear now” and posted the “also-awesome” “Fall Straight Back.” The follow up album Silver, which mixes 90-second fist-pumper and dreamy, six-minute meditations, noisy highs and uncomfortably quiet hums, was well received by Nylon, Spin, and Gorilla Vs Bear; their video for "Pogo" (an Elbo.ws hot track) premiered on Pitchfork TV and their "Pogo" remix debuted on Stereogum. Eternal Summers spent the fall and winter of 2010 touring the east coast and midwest, playing with the likes of Harlem, Dum Dum Girls, Best Coast, Dan Deacon, Beach Fossils, Jenny and Johnny and Wild Nothing to name a few. For 2011, the band has routed dates around the SXSW music festivaland will shortly announce tour dates with the Beets, which will include Eternal Summers first trip to the west coast... L'Altra releases new album today

To purchase your copy of 'Telepathic' Now, Click Here. Hot off the heels from a busy stint at this year's SXSW festival, Chicago's L'Altra are very excited to announce the release of their newest offering 'Telepathic' today through Japanese boutique label Acuarela Discos. The album's lush, orchestral soundscapes take the listener on an emotional journey. Drenched in Wurlitzer and droning guitars, L'Altra's music takes a refreshing twist on indie pop featuring a gentle wash of hushed riffs, rolling piano, subtle electronics, measured rhythms, synths and strings. With nods to acts like Blonde Redhead and Pinback, this is the perfect record to spin as the seasons turn, with Spring on the horizon and chilly Winter evenings warm and brighten. Keep watch for a tour announcement from L'Altra coming soon!

The Elected coming to the Troubadour May 17 in support of new album

The Elected are pleased to announce the first confirmed live dates in support of the band’s upcoming release Bury Me In My Rings, due out May 17th on Vagrant Records. The band will unveil new material to audiences in Los Angeles on May 17th at the Troubadour and in New York City on May 24th at the Mercury Lounge. Produced and recorded by frontman Blake Sennett (Rilo Kiley guitarist and co-songwriter) with help from Bright Eyes’ Mike Mogis, Jason Cupp and longtime Elected contributors Mike Bloom, Bury Me In My Rings is The Elected's third full-length release, and first on Vagrant. The result is a thoughtful and deliberate pop album layered with soulful harmonies and a sunny disposition, and is easily The Elected’s most impressive work to date. The band released its previous albums, Me First (2004) and Sun, Sun, Sun (2006) on Sub Pop Records. After another Rilo Kiley album and tour, followed by an extended break, Blake had retired from music, or so he thought. Tucked away from the limelight, and amidst a soul-search-inducing home renovation project, Blake decided it was time to make a record. "I find that with records, I always have the strongest feelings about my most recent work," says Sennett. "Sometimes it sucks; other times I made my favorite record. This time, I can safely say it's my favorite." Bury Me In My Rings will be released on May 17th via Vagrant Records. Expect to see additional live dates announced in the coming weeks. http://www.facebook.com/theelectedband www.myspace.com/theelected

Jerry Garcia honored by album from the Rex Foundation

On Tuesday March 29, 2011 the Rex Foundation will release 12 tracks from The Wheel – A Musical Celebration of Jerry Garcia. Recorded at The Fillmore in San Francisco, this special live album features some of Garcia’s oldest cohorts playing some of his most well-known songs. Hosted by the Rex Foundation at the legendary Fillmore Auditorium on December 4, 2010, the benefit concert entitled “The Wheel – A Musical Celebration of Jerry Garcia” was a historic night. Among the evening’s unique music experiences was the bringing together of Jesse McReynolds, Peter Rowan and David Nelson. McReynolds, Rowan, and Nelson each shared a deep connection with Garcia dating back to the early 1960s. In 1962, when Jerry Garcia began playing the banjo and exploring bluegrass music, he formed a band called the Hart Valley Drifters with David Nelson on guitar. In 1964, as part of his bluegrass pilgrimage through the American South, Jerry sought out the even-then legendary bluegrass musicians “Jim and Jesse” (McReynolds). Garcia held Jesse’s mandolin playing and music in high esteem for many more years to come. In 1969, as the Grateful Dead released Aoxomoxoa, Jerry was also collaborating with other musical friends. He reconnected with David Nelson and John “Marmaduke” Dawson to form New Riders of the Purple Sage. He formed another bluegrass band, Old and in the Way, with David Grisman, John Kahn, Peter Rowan and Vassar Clements. Coming full circle, in October 2010, McReynolds released Songs of the Grateful Dead – A Tribute to Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter, collaborating with none other than David Nelson. At the December 4th benefit event, the featured artists, along with members of their respective bands, which included Garrett McReynolds, Steve Thomas, Jody Stecher, Keith Little, Paul Knight, Barry Sless, Robin Sylvester, John Molo, Mookie Siegel, and special guest Matt Butler of The Everyone Orchestra, had the exceptional opportunity to play Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter and traditional American roots songs together. Following the show many people noted that this remarkable music should be made available to those who could not attend, as well as to extend the reach of the benefit to provide additional charitable support to the Rex Foundation. On Tuesday March 29, 2011 this will be the case with downloads and CDs available from nugs.net for all to enjoy. As a special bonus, nugs.net is offering a free album listening party during the week of the release exclusively at nugs.net/wheel. Matthew Sikora and Phathom to release new album and tour

Hardline Entertainment singer-songwriter Matthew Sikora, frontman for LA-based rock band Phathom, has released a new music video for “Bring Me Back” off his self-titled solo album. Check out the clip here: http://www.youtube.com/user/hardlineent#p/a/u/0/LjSqeFKEtU4. The album was released last fall on LA based indie label Hardline Entertainment. Sikora’s band Phathom will release its new album May 24 on Hardline Entertainment. About Matthew Sikora: The difference between a dream and a goal is that a goal can be accomplished through a defined path. While many kids dream of becoming a musician, 25-year-old Matthew Sikora made it his goal and followed the arduous path that he carved out of stone to accomplish it. While loyal fans know Matthew Sikora for his work as lead vocalist and guitarist in Phathom - an independent, hard-rockers band out of suburban Los Angeles, Matthew has broken new ground with his self-titled debut solo album. What Matthew has managed to put together is an exciting blend of soul-searching, ethereal, yet down and dirty alternative rock that’s fused with brash passion. Matthew's talent as a singer-songwriter/guitarist transcends previous work. This talent was honed through a decade of playing in Phathom and touring the country. “After multiple, full-length Vans Warped Tours and opening for bands like Strung Out, No Use For A Name, Avenged Sevenfold, Authority Zero and Unwritten Law, it’s been an incredible experience to play with the very same artists that I grew up listening to and being welcomed by a crowd with open arms" After hearing a few tracks, audio engineer industry veteran, Mike Sutherland (Pepper, Slightly Stoopid), needed no further motivation to help co-produce the album along with Matthew and his father, Bruce Sikora. Matthew's influences range almost cyclically by each song - from the Beatles pop, heard on the upbeat "Hollow Day;" the rollicking slide guitar that flavors the Southern rock-tinged, "DR. D;" all the way to the theatrics of Bowie and Queen on the closer, "Bring Me Back." This latest endeavor truly showcases an eclectic and imaginative soundscape that will leave the listener absolutely fulfilled on both a musical and emotional level. The Clutters to release new album

“Under Suspicion” is the first single from Breaking Bones by The Clutters [MP3]: http://www.fanaticpromotion.com/projects/theclutters/mp3/theclutters-undersuspicion.mp3 [TRAILER:] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=US0pvTcyJrU Nashville-based band, The Clutters, will release its third album of pure, unmitigated rock n’ roll fury on May 10th. Breaking Bones arrives on the heels of the band’s critically praised second full-length, Don’t Believe A Word. The album is preceded by the single “Under Suspicion” which will be available as a limited edition 7-inch at mom and pop stores nationwide on Record Store Day 2011, April 16th. Ten years ago, when The Clutters first exploded onto the Nashville scene, there was a lot of head scratching. So this is rock n’ roll, eh? When the band’s debut album hit, the record pretty much exploded the “rock free Music City” myth and now, ten years after the genesis of The Clutters and on the eve of their third album, Breaking Bones, Nashville has become an epicenter for the rawest of rock n roll. Coincidence? Probably not. The Clutters might not take credit for the path they blazed, but they blazed it none the less. Breaking Bones finds The Clutters – vocalist/guitarist Doug Lehmann, bass player Jake Rosswog, drummer Stephanie Brush and keyboardist Andrew Higley – raising the bar for rock n’ roll once again with twelve tracks that land somewhere between Vanilla Fudge and The Voidoids, AC/DC and The Animals. The Clutters barrel through the rock pantheon with a punk rock propulsion and the belligerence of Bon Scott on Breaking Bones, leaving no ass un-shook and no fist un-pimped. These are anthems for an unemployed, unloved and unsatisfied America. No concessions are made to decorum, no acknowledgment made of the delicate sensibilities that have sucked the fun out independent music over the last decade. This is hyphen-free rock n roll – all energy, no bullshit. The new The Clutters album Breaking Bones will be released by Chicken Ranch Records on May 10th, 2011. The Clutters Breaking Bones (Chicken Ranch, 5/10/2011) Track Listing: 01. Finer Things 02. Under Suspicion 03. I’m Bitter 04. Never Know My Name 05. I Wanna Be Known 06. Run 07. New Wave 08. Not Tonight 09. Our World Is Gone 10. Twice Bitten 11. More 12. There Is No We In I
