Another stage added for final Warped Tour stop

As a special end to a very successful "Lucky 13” VANS WARPED TOUR®, producer and founder Kevin Lyman has added an extra stage to this summer’s final show on August 25 a the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles. As a tribute to the roots of the tour and to the bands, those who attend the final WARPED show will have the privilege of rocking out to classic punk rock bands at “The Old School Stage.” This stage will feature performances from The Dickies, Circle Jerks, Manic Hispanic, Fear, The Adolescents, Agent Orange, Duane Peters Gunfight and a special rendition of Punk Rock Karaoke featuring various 2007 VANS WARPED TOUR bands.

Tickets for this special end-of-tour show may sell out, so be sure to purchase in advance to experience punk rock history in the making. Tickets are available via TicketMaster charge-by-phone lines at (213) 480-3232 and at all TicketMaster retail ticket centers, online at www.ticketmaster.com.

Meanwhile, America’s longest-running touring festival continues to garner critical acclaim from the media. Here’s a sample:

“Warped has long embraced bands from the softer, poppier side of punk too, but it's never abandoned its original sound and fury…Fans--about 18,000 on Saturday--crowd-surfed beneath a nearly cloudless sky, and a cool ocean breeze kept the temperature down. Each band played a tight 30-minute set--a continuous storm of ecstatic noise that didn't stop until sundown. There were plenty of fans in their 30s, 40s and older, but they were vastly outnumbered by recruits in their teens and 20s. That suggests that "punk" as a genre remains a vital rallying point for youthful escape and rebellion, even if new ideas and messages can be hard to come by. Warped rarely gets full credit for a range of bands and sounds that reach beyond the straight-ahead punk ethos.”
--Steve Appleford, Los Angeles Times, July 2, 2007

“This is the 13th year of the annual tour that sets the agenda for mainstream punk…and the organizers have traditionally scrambled the pecking order by changing the running order every day and declining to announce it in advance. It’s a nice conceit, and a smart way to ensure that fans arrive early, but this year it seemed more sensible than ever. The lineups reflect a thriving but decentralized genre in which established bands, rising stars and grizzled veterans seem more or less equally important.”
--Kelefa Sanneh, New York Times, August 6, 2007

“…venerable punk-‘n-stuff-fest…”
--Rolling Stone, June 14, 2007

“…a summer ritual in itself.”
--Brett Milano, Boston Phoenix, June 11, 2007

“…a blessed rite of passage for North American youth.”

“…the Vans Warped Tour is an example of how to stage a music festival correctly…part of the fun was stumbling upon a few surprises…”
--John Wenzel, Denver Post, July 10, 2007

“Warped is just as much about the culture of the music as the music, and it has maintained its credibility by finding the hottest bands before they're hot.”
--Dan Mayfield, Albuquerque Journal, July 6, 2007

“Now in its 13th year, this summer festival has become one of the best concert values where you can discover new bands and see old favorites all in the same day. And with extreme sports and interactive sponsor tents, there have always been plenty of alternatives to the ultraviolet rays and high-decibel sounds.”
--Jonathan Williams, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, July 12, 2007

”…it has become one of the main vehicles for and outlets of the punk-rock/skateboarding community…The tour also has a history of championing social and environmental causes…”
--Travis Atria, Gainesville Sun, July 19, 2007

“…Warped is more than music. It's a rite of passage, a safe haven for tweens and teens to spend a loud, sweaty day thrashing amongst their peers…”
--Sean Daly, St. Petersburg Times, July 19, 2007

“The 13th annual punk-rock megatour…has been a valuable supporter of indie-rap…”
--Chris Riemenschneider, Minneapolis Star Tribune, July 27, 2007

“Thirteen years, several thousand bands and an estimated 7.5 million ticket sales later, Lyman's big backyard party--aka the Vans Warped Tour--is one of the most successful, time-tested brands on the musical landscape…the Warped Tour has been a constant, weathering musical scenes and trends by sticking to its do-it-yourself ethos and keeping its ticket prices low enough that any burgeoning punk rocker with a paper route could afford to attend.”
--Adam Graham, Detroit News, July 26, 2007

“…Warped Tour 2007, which offers a combination of entertainment and education in its 45-city itinerary across North America.”
