Friday I headed out to the Pasadena Museum of History for the closing soiree for its exhibit, "The Purse and the Person." I was honored to have been in the slideshow portion of the show, flaunting my Flying V guitar purse in my Doo Dah attire.
After the party, I went to the Pasadena Community Orchestra performance in Sierra Madre. The music first put me in mind of the Disney train ride with it's forest and fantasy themes, then it went downhill for me. It included a bassoon solo and despite the fact that the musician was terrific and really enjoying himself, the piece just left me a little depressed. The second half of the concert was much better- a bit more uplifting and you could even hum along.
Saturday was hectic! I went from exercise classes to dance practice to the Sligo Rags show at the Fret House in Covina. The band was wonderful-- they have such great rapport with the audience and each other and their musicianship is inspiring. I was captivated through the entire evening and went home to dream of Sligo Rags' Irish-themes tunes.
Sunday I ventured to the Wistaria Festival in Sierra Madre. I missed Chico's Bail Bonds, but managed to catch two of my other favorite bands, Horses on Astroturf and Aluminum Marshmallow with the Age of Aquarius Horns. It made for a nice afternoon.
The remainder of my week has been filled with dancing and other fun things.

Sunday I have a birthday party to attend-- Happy everything, Rose! And the rest of the week will be busy with this and that, including a Wednesday respite with Alaksa's Fiddling Poet Ken Waldman in Fullerton. He will be there two nights and is a must-see, visit http://www.kenwaldman.com/
Photos we got 'em: Here's a few shots from some of my adventures... Jeannette Bovard of the Pasadena Museum of History, me and Prince Andrew Duke of Doo Dah at the Purse party last Friday and Prince Andrew tooting his trombone as part of the Age of Aquarius Horns at the Wistaria Festival and also Tom Behrens, the drummer for Aluminum Marshmallow. Also, my brother Jason finally gave me some photos from Joe Walla's gig at the Hub- a nice one of the boyz (love you guys!) on stage and another of me strangling Joe (I told you to watch out for those wild redheads). Lastly, a couple of cute pet pix.
In rotation this week: Every Time I Die, Maps, Orange Sky, Tom Petty, Dio, Rob Zombie, Aerosmith, Wicked Tinkers and a sprinkling of other artists.
Thought of the week: Yeah, it's time for me to say something profound, but I just don't feel very "sagely" right now so I'll keep it simple- find peace. Look inside and discover what makes you feel right with the world. My tip is that it's that little thing that always brings that special smile to your face. Now breathe deep and relax... aaahhhhhh.... peace.... isn't it nice?
Keep on rockin'
Mickie
