Background
Brubaker, Piano Chair, New England Conservatory of Music writes Haydnseek is a live performance "remix" of original piano sonatas by Joseph Haydn performed with sound material realized by Los Angeles-based composers Laura Karpman and Nora Kroll- Rosenbaum.

Says Mr. Brubaker, "This began with my observation that two of Franz Joseph Haydn's piano sonatas, in C major, Hoboken XVI:50 and G major, Hoboken XVI:39, 'share' one measure. At times, the electronic sounds are just quiet sonorities, at other moments, they are fairly invasive. I'm intrigued by I. M. Pei's giant glass pyramid which now functions as the 'entrance' to the Louvre. In Haydnseek, Haydn's witty, open-ended forms take well to such contemporary mixology. I hope we are making a passageway between present and past."
