ExperienceLA.com adds activity locating map

Angelenos can now more easily find a broader range of events and destinations in or near their neighborhoods. ExperienceLA.com, the award-winning free public service, has launched an interactive map that allows users to identify favorite activities in their vicinity by selecting a category, and then clicking on locations that appear on the map to find out more information. More than 1,600 Los Angeles area organizations feed information into ExperienceLA’s database. The new feature at http://www.experiencela.com/GettingAround/ - transforms the site’s event calendar into a searchable map. Event information includes public transportation options.

In addition, the selection of event categories has been broadened. The database, which has always been rich in cultural options, now also includes recreational and lifelong learning activities especially through “Indoor, Outdoor & More – Activities and Attractions brought to you by L.A. County.” Public events offered by Los Angeles County government departments are part of the site’s calendar but are presented in a more focused way via the “Indoor Outdoor & More” directory at http://www.experiencela.com/countydirectory/index.asp. County department partners include Arts Commission, Beaches & Harbors, Museum of Art (LACMA), Music Center, Natural History Museum, Parks & Recreation and Public Library.

The new features coincide with January’s Los Angeles Arts Month. Information on special Arts Month events can be found on the official Los Angeles Arts Month calendar, powered by ExperienceLA, at http://www.laartsmonth.org. Residents can further celebrate the arts in Los Angeles in January and all year round by visiting ExperienceLA’s calendar of events, “Indoor Outdoor & More” directory, or the interactive map.
