The Fling signs with Dangerbird

Acclaimed independent label Dangerbird has announced the signing of eclectic California rockers The Fling to their growing roster of artists. The Long Beach-based band is currently prepping their forthcoming album to be released on Dangerbird in spring 2011; in the meantime, the hard-working group is embarking on a busy touring schedule that is sure to secure their reputation as a formidable live act. The announcement comes hot on the heels of Dangerbird’s recent signing of another CA band, electro-pop duo The Limousines, earlier this week.

The Fling has just completed national tour dates with their new Dangerbird labelmates Darker My Love, with the two acts appearing as special guests of headliners Delta Spirit. The Fling will soon bring their eclectic mix of folk, rock, pop and psychedelic music to a January 2011 residency at famed Silver Lake hotspot Spaceland, followed later in the year by their debut Dangerbird release. The band’s previous album, 2010’s When the Madhouses Appear, was praised by the LA Record as "heartfelt and personal,” while Creative Loafing described it as "beautifully melodic and well-textured songwriting.”

Co-founded by CEO Jeff Castelaz and Chief Creative Officer Peter Walker in 2004, Dangerbird is now home to more than 30 bands—including Walker’s band Eulogies—and producers, while encompassing six divisions: record label, management, music publishing, merchandising, licensing and a recording studio. Key Dangerbird Records artists include Silversun Pickups, Grammy nominees for Best New Artist, as well as genre-bending buzz band Fitz and the Tantrums, who are currently racing up the charts towards the Top 10 in both Triple-A and Alternative radio formats in major markets across the country. Fellow Dangerbird acts including Canadian alternative rock band Hot Hot Heat and Seattle's Minus the Bear are also making waves with successful 2010 releases on the label.

Upcoming Dangerbird releases in 2011 are led by Eulogies’ Tear The Fences Down on January 18 and include career-defining albums from The Dears, The One AM Radio, and Maritime (ex-members of the Promise Ring). Dangerbird Records is a fully-staffed label that embraces each of their bands’ releases, bringing vital music culture to the world by leveraging in-house marketing, radio promotion and licensing, as well as the best independent radio and marketing firms.
