THE FLOWER KINGS announce 2 new members of the TFK family.

New drummer/percussionist Erik Hammarström and vocalist, keyboardist, guitarist Ola Heden. Premiere with this fab 6 piece line up is LORELEY festival in Germany on July 19th.

The band is working on a number of side projects at the present including new releases from Karmakanic (yes finally) and Tomas Bodin (Cinematograph) , and there are two yet unnamed project/groups from Dr Stolt & Dr Reingold and Erik Hammarstöm is part of the new Brightseye Brison CD release.... any day now .

Flowerkings will reunite in a couple of weeks for a series of rehearsals for upcoming shows/festivals and later also for a new CD recording.

Charles Hamilton's mixtape out soon

With his self-produced mixtape Outside Looking hosted by Green Lantern dropping early next week, praise from the likes of Pharrell and Eminem and a forthcoming album via Interscope later this year, Charles Hamilton is a name you need to know.

Jimmy Iovine’s newest signee produces and writes all of his own music and plays multiple instruments at the young age of 20.

Just as Athena sprung forth from Zeus’s head, Charles Hamilton was given birth by Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic buries himself into sound, putting him through different zones and mind states. The sound dictates the zone itself. Sonic is faster than the sound, so he can never lose or die, as long as he follows the truest sound, his heart. Part mythical character, part artist- Charles Hamilton’s existence is guided by and solely dedicated to music in order to sustain life.

Audies award winners named

The Audio Publishers Association (APA) announced the winners of the 2008 Audies® on May 30th at a grand Gala at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Often considered the "Oscars" of the audiobook industry, the Audies® are the only completely juried awards program covering audiobooks and spoken word entertainment.

The APA recognized the year's best titles across many different genres, while also celebrating industry trailblazers. Hosted by acclaimed audiobook narrator Scott Brick, the gala celebrated audio's most entertaining and ground-breaking audiobooks of the 2007 publishing year.

In recognition of its record-breaking sales and impact on the entire audio publishing industry, The Secret, written and read by Rhonda Byrne, was inducted into the Audies® Hall of Fame. The Chopin Manuscript, a title available only through download, took home the evening's grand prize, Audiobook of the Year.

Competing against the latest installments of past Audie winners such as The Bible Experience: Old Testament (The New Testament was last year's Audiobook of the Year) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (the audiobook series was the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2006), the Alfred Molina-voiced title also beat out I Am America (And So Can You!) and The Invention of Hugo Cabret due to a winning combination of superb production quality, innovative presentation as a serial release, and an impressive marketing strategy. Also, in a surprise sweep, the original production Sweeney Todd and the String of Pearls won in all three of its nominated categories.

Writer/producer/director Yuri Rasovsky based the drama on the original Victorian tale, and the APA awarded its quality with Audies in Original Work, Audio Drama, and Achievement in Production. Additionally, the association honored industry trailblazers Grady Hesters and Linda Olsen of The Audio Partners, Inc., for their contributions to the growth of the audio industry through their high standards in marketing, recording and packaging over their 27 years in audio.

"This was an exciting year in audio, and the Audies® continue to truly capture that excitement and innovation as the industry grows and changes," said Michele Lee Cobb, President of APA. "We commend all of the entrants on their high-quality work and contributions."

Additionally, the APA and AudioFile Magazine have joined together to provide an interactive way to listen to this year's Audie® winners. Guitarist/composer David Pritchard’s unique music for acoustic guitar ensemble can be heard on his latest CD “Velocity”, described by Minor7th.com’s Bernard Richter as “truly some of the most beautiful music I’ve ever heard.” Prior to the release of “Velocity”, Pritchard’s Zebra Acoustic recording “Unassigned Territory” was described in Billboard magazine like this: “There is a spaciousness and forward momentum toPritchard’s designs that make his simple but detailed compositions sound cinematic.”

His music was first introduced to the public on his CD “Air Patterns” which was described by CD Review magazine as “one of those precious albums that cuts though the dross with its precision, craft, and design, like an intricate Oriental rug.” His music has frequently been heard on the public radio program “Echoes.” His music has also been recorded by the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet.

Geghis Tron to release remix series and tour

GENGHIS TRON is proud to announce the details of a very special, five-volume Board Up The House remix series.

Beginning in August and continuing through the rest of 2008, GENGHIS TRON will be releasing five 12” remix records on five different record labels (Temporary Residence Ltd., Lovepump United, Relapse Records, Anticon Records, and Crucial Blast respectively). Each volume will be limited to 1,000, pressed on colored vinyl. Board Up The House cover artist, Jon Beasley, will also be providing each remix album with alternative artwork.

Each record will feature a select number of GENGHIS TRON songs taken from Board Up The House, remixed by a variety of artists. Some of the participating artists include BLACK MOTH SUPER RAINBOW, ULVER, DNTEL, TELEFON TEL AVIV, STEVE MOORE, JESU/JUSTIN BROADRICK, DANNY LOHNER, ROB CROW, SUBTLE, ODD NOSDAM, CIRCLE, TIM HECKER, and many more to be announced soon.

GENGHIS TRON commented on the series: “We are very excited to announce a series of special Genghis Tron releases which we've been scheming for quite some time now. Those who have been following us for a while know that we've always been interested in remixes, but to date we've only released a few GT remixes on a few tour-only CDs. We've wanted to do something grander and more "official" for a long time, so we're proud to say that we've finally assembled a very massive, very official remix project. We reached out to lots of musicians who we admire and overall we've been completely overwhelmed at their willingness to participate in this massive, awesome project. Rev. Bubba D Liverance to release new album today

Rev. Bubba D Liverance says that the album he has made with the good honest folk who form his band, The Cornhole Prophets, is “just for fun.” Well, the music may well be fun, but don’t let Bubba fool you, because this is one band who know exactly what they are doing.

Hailing from Auburn, Alabama, Bubba and his boys play the sort of music you sometimes wish everyone would make: Good honest rock and roll soul, with both heart and a sense of humour. The horns are as funky as anything James Brown could ever dream up, the guitars wail away like the best Stax records of yesteryear, while Bubba sings his heart out just like a good ‘ol southern boy should.

Put all these together and make them as tight as a band can be, and you’ve got music that will get everyone out of their seat and on to that dancefloor. It is no surprise, therefore, that the album should be called Let My Peoples Dance. The Cornhole Prophets are all about bringing the people’s music back to the people and making it fun.

Although the album will no doubt be enjoyed by people in homes, cars and headphones everywhere it is played, The Cornhole Prophets are above all a live experience. The feeling of playing to the audience, bouncing back off a frenzied crowd of converts and just getting funky is what informs this record. It is what makes us feel so fresh and alive.

Listen to the raw soul power of the title track or That’s What You Do, the dry comedy of My Baby Is A Seafood Platter or the appeal to real, honest music that is Ain’t No American Idol and you’ll know that Bubba and his band are as far away from the tasteless modern pop band as you can get.

This is a band that thinks music should be real, should be live and should reach people. They haven’t got a message, other than enjoy yourself and let your feet do the talking. You can call the music rock and roll, funk, soul, rhythm & blues, or even country. But whatever it is, it sure is a whole lot of fun.
