For thirty years Doshi has designed Costumes for Theatre, Dance, Ice-Skating, Stunt Shows and TV. She has received numerous honors and awards in design including a Themed Entertainment Award for excellence in costume design for Waterworld at Universal Studios Hollywood. Dyeing, discharging color and manipulating fabric surfaces has always been an integral part of her design work. For the last twelve years Doshi has pursued fiber arts independently from Theatre and Costume design. Her work is an exploration of shibori techniques both traditional and modern. Doshis expressive pieces of wearable art and textiles are dynamic and evocative statements of spirit and soul. Her work is exhibited in galleries throughout the United States and Europe, with a recent group exhibition at the Mingei International Museum, San Diego and shows at Atelier Designers in New York. Doshi is also a professor of Costume Design at California State University, Long Beach. She supervises and teaches costume design, patterning, crafts and dyeing.

THIS MONTHS WORKSHOP: MAY 16 (ONLY ONE DAY)
DOSHI - SHIBORI DYEING TECHNIQUES
Shibori is the Japanese word for a variety of ways of embellishing textiles by shaping cloth and securing it before dyeing. The designs created by shibori processes all share a softness of outline and spontaneity of design. This latter is shiboris special magic, made possible by exploiting the beauty of the fortuitous things that happen when dye enters shaped cloth. The class will look at the history of shibori and its growth through photos, books, and samples from Japan, India, South America, Africa, and the U.S. Through instruction and demonstration you will learn the traditional shibori techniques of stitching, knotting and pole wrapping. You will be able to complete several samples of the techniques.

Walter Trout to release new album
Provogue Records has announced a July 6 street date for Walter Trout’s nineteenth solo album COMMON GROUND. From the origins of his career as a sideman for Percy Mayfield and John Lee Hooker, through his tenure with Canned Heat and John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, and then a successful solo career that has seen the release of 18 albums thus far, Walter Trout has emerged as one of America’s musical treasures. He has enjoyed a career that spans 35 years, and has performed in front of millions.
BBC Radio One placed Trout at number six on their Top 20 guitarists of all-time, offering tribute to a player whose place in history continues to become more significant as the years go on.
On titling the album COMMON GROUND, Trout shares, “In this modern world which seems to be so filled with polarization, disagreements, and cruelty, I feel that it is important that we try to find SOME place where we can bond and come together in our common humanity!”
Trout’s 19th solo album COMMON GROUND was produced by John Porter (The Smiths, B.B. King, Buddy Guy), and straddles the worlds of Rock and Blues. His vocal intonation and affinity for timeless riffs deliver a collection of tracks that are destined to be instant classics. These songs simply are the core essence of feeling, and demonstrate Trout’s keen ability to craft moving compositions as a songwriter and lyricist.
On working with Porter, the musician reflects, “John Porter has an uncanny ability to draw performances from me that I didn't know that I was capable of. I would play a solo or sing a song and think that I had done well, and John would just say to me: ‘that was good - but I know you can do better!’ And I would try it again, only to find out that he was right! He is really brilliant at what he does.”
Drummer Kenny Aronoff, bassist Hutch Hutchinson and pianist John Cleary join Trout as his backing band for the sessions that delivered this special recording.
The complete track listing for COMMON GROUND is:
Maybe A Fool
Open Book
Her Other Man
Song For My Guitar
Excess Baggage
Hudson Had Help
Common Ground
Danger Zone
Eyes Of A Child
No Regrets
Loaded Gun
Wrapped Up In The Blues

Information is available at www.luckymanonline.com.
The Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival is produced by John Reese, John Oakes and CAA. This team has co-founded and continues to co-produce the Rockstar Taste Of Chaos and the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. All of the amphitheater dates are being produced in conjunction with Live Nation.
Disturbed have sold 11 million albums and six million digital tracks worldwide, and have scored eight #1 singles at Active Rock radio over the course of their career. Disturbed are currently in the studio recording their new CD entitled Asylum, which will be released by Reprise Records in late summer. The group’s last studio album, the platinum self-produced Indestructible, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart in June 2008 and remained in the Top 10 for five weeks. Indestructible is the band’s third consecutive #1 album, following their platinum-sellers Believe (2002) and Ten Thousand Fists (2005), making Disturbed one of only six rock bands in history to score three consecutive #1 debuts with studio albums. “We are truly looking forward to being part of a lineup this strong,” says Disturbed’s David Draiman. “It’s always good to tour with friends.” In 2008, the song “Inside the Fire” was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Hard Rock Performance category for the 2009 award show and is the longest running #1 single in history at Active Rock Radio.
Southern California's Avenged Sevenfold recently finished tracking their highly anticipated fifth studio album, slated for release later this year. The group, once an integral part of the independent underground rock scene, achieved worldwide success with their platinum 2005 breakthrough City Of Evil (Warner Bros. Records). The album featured the wildly popular single "Bat Country." The band quickly became known for their spectacular live shows and continues to sell out arenas worldwide. They are the only band to have headlined the Vans Warped Tour and Ozzfest while simultaneously hitting #1 on MTV's "TRL." In 2006, they won the award for fan-voted Best New Artist category for "Bat Country" at the MTV Video Music Awards. In 2007, their self-titled Avenged Sevenfold album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Alternative, Hard and Rock Charts and #4 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. It spawned the singles "Almost Easy," "Afterlife" and "Scream," and has sold over a million units worldwide. In 2008, the band captured their magnificent stage show on Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough, a live CD/DVD that has since been certified platinum. This tour marks Avenged Sevenfold's first tour since the passing of beloved friend and drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, and frontman M. Shadows shares, "After recently finishing up our new record we were not sure if we were going to continue touring. We got a call from our friends at UPROAR and decided this would be the best way to introduce our fans to the new album. We are excited to share the new music with you and our friends on tour."
Stone Sour’s passionately pulsing second album, Come What(ever) May found the band firing on all cylinders and capturing the attention and the hearts of the rock ‘n roll masses. The album was a massive success, already gold and approaching platinum status while the band is currently holed up in Nashville, Tennessee working on their much anticipated, as-yet-untitled third effort, due out on Roadrunner Records in summer 2010. Grammy-winning Come What(ever) May producer Nick Raskulinecz is once again onboard as producer. "Me and the boys are really looking forward to the UPROAR Festival this fall,” comments the group’s Corey Taylor. “Not only is it another chance to tour the great States, but it’s also a chance for us to play the new material that we've been working on. It’s going to be no holds barred every night, and we hope everyone is ready for it."
“With UPROAR, our goal is to bring fans a late summer celebration featuring awesome rock bands, lifestyle attractions and activities. Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold and Stone Sour along with the rest of the bill deliver one of the best rock touring packages in recent times,” says tour producer John Reese. “The album sales success of Disturbed has been unprecedented and they have the opportunity to be one of the only rock bands in history to have an album debut at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 four consecutive times. “In my opinion, Avenged Sevenfold with this new album are set to take their career to a massive place and Stone Sour’s career is on a path to hugeness.”
“The creative duo behind UPROAR, John Reese and CAA, are incredibly talented at pulling together a stellar line up of great bands, combined with great activities, in a fun-filled summer environment, at a great price. Our current partnership on Mayhem has been a huge success drawing more than 600,000 fans to our amphitheaters in 2008 and 2009, and given the great roster of bands on UPROAR, we anticipate another big hit with fans this summer,” said Jason Garner, CEO of Concerts for Live Nation.
"At Rockstar Energy Drink we are committed to the music fan and with UPROAR we are ready to unleash one of the best rock packages in recent memory on North America,” says Rockstar Energy Drink Marketing Director Mike Kelso. “A plethora of great music and fan friendly surprises will be unveiled at the 2010 Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival."
“Jägermeister is once again thrilled to be working with John Reese and his team on UPROAR,” comments Rick Zeiler, Director of Strategic Marketing for Jägermeister. “Our company takes great pride in working with the best in the business and UPROAR has all of the elements to be one of the best tours this year. We’re also very excited to have Hellyeah headline the Jägermeister Mobile Stage.”
The Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival will feature a full afternoon and night of activities, including a concourse midway filled with vendors and activities and a daily wrestling tournament featuring the Detroit-based Blue Collar Wrestling Alliance. The Blue Collar Wrestling Alliance UPROAR lineup will feature eight of the finest, fastest rising wrestlers in the world who will put their skills to the ultimate test during the BCWA UPROAR Invitational. The 36-event tournament will encompass 245 matches over seven weeks throughout North America. The athlete that perseveres over injuries and adversity will be named King of the Tournament.

The Washington Post raved about her 2006 tour saying, “Shakira doesn’t need much to take it to the rafters. No pyrotechnics, no army of back up dancers, no elaborate staging – not even a pair of shoes. Just her charisma, pipes and hips.”
In keeping with Shakira’s inspired originality, as well as her sensual rhythms and deliciously unpredictable spirit, the tour promises to push the limits of the live concert experience, bringing fans a pulsating spectacle crossing all musical boundaries.
In addition to her summer tour, Shakira will take the stage at some of the year’s hottest summer festivals including London’s legendary Glastonbury Festival and Rock In Rio in Lisbon and Madrid. Shakira ’s song, “Waka Waka” (This Time For Africa) has also been selected as the official anthem of the 2010 World Cup. .
Shakira will perform songs from her collection of smash hits and her new album, She Wolf, released in the US on November 23rd, 2009, by Epic Records. The album is the follow-up to 2005's Platinum certified album Oral Fixation Vol. 2, which spawned the hit single "Hips Don't Lie" reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 which was #1 in 55 countries and became the most played song in the history of US pop radio. The critically acclaimed She Wolf continues to grow in popularity with the recent release of the album's third single, "Gypsy,” preceded by hit singles "She Wolf" and "Give It Up To Me", featuring Lil Wayne. Shakira made Billboard chart history again in 2010 with her 17th top five hit on the Latin Pop Airplay chart with “Gitana,” giving her the most top five titles by a female artist in the chart’s 16-year history.
Shakira is a Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter, an entertainer, record producer and advocate for universal education. She is the founder and President of the Barefoot Foundation (Pies Descalzos), a founding member of the ALAS Foundation and an ambassador for 1GOAL and UNICEF.

Hillsides Foster Soles gala Tuesday
Celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres, Jimmy Kimmel, Elton John, Billy Joel, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Josh Groban, Ryan Seacrest, and Carson Daly donate autographed shoes for Hillsides Foster Soles in Los Angeles, an online auction of celebrity autographed shoes and celebrity photograph. Held during Foster Care Awareness Month in May, Hillsides Foster Soles Kickoff Party for the online auction raises awareness of national foster care issues and the plight of children and youth in the system.
Honorary event chair, Dr. Drew Pinsky of “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” will serve as emcee at the Los Angeles Kickoff Party to launch the auction. Hosted by Bar Celona in Pasadena on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., guests will mingle with celebrities, sip signature sangria, savor tapas, view an amazing display of celebrity autographed shoes, and be entertained by Rose City Ballroom professional dancers and Polytechnic Dance Group.
“I have been practicing medicine in the Pasadena area for over 20 years and one of my patients actually introduced me to the institution,” said Pinsky about the foster care children’s charity. “She knew that I had a special concern for the pandemic of childhood abuse and the lack of quality mental health services for victimized children. I immediately saw that Hillsides was a model for how these children should be served and I wanted to play a part in supporting it.”
Pinsky’s wife, Susan Pinsky, who serves on the children’s charity’s board of directors, hounded him even though “I told her that no one would want my dirty old shoes. Anything I can do to support them I am always willing. The more extraordinary story though is how responsive my celebrity friends were when I started asking them [to participate].”
More than 120 celebrity shoes will be displayed in hopes of raising funds for the children’s charity. With more than 500,000 children in foster care and nearly 30,000 children in Los Angeles receiving child welfare services, Hillsides Foster Soles takes steps to lighten the load of children living at Hillsides, a Los Angeles children’s charity that services foster care children and vulnerable youth.
“Despite the barriers I had growing up as a child who was deaf, my parents treated me any child should be treated - with love and respect,” said Oscar Award winning actress Marlee Matlin, who will attend Hillsides Foster Soles. “I am a firm believer that children, regardless of who they are or the barriers that society places in their paths deserve no less than any other children. For me, it's important that those of us who are able to, should lend a hand and help these children achieve their dreams.”
Other celebrities that donated their shoes were: Aaron D. Spears, Adam Busch, Adam Sandler, Alec Mazo, Alex Kapp Horner, Allana Pratt, Amber Benson, Andrea Evans, Anya Sarre, Ashley Jones, Ashley Judd, Billy Bob Thornton, Billy Zane, Brent Spiner, Bruce Campbell, Buck Hollywood , Chad Billingsley, Cheryl Burke, Christine Devine, Coby Bell, Cole Sprouse, Dave Koz, Debby Boone, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Dylan Sprouse, Edyta Slewinska, Emily Wynne-Hughes, Emmylou Harris , Faith Evans, Fletcher Dragge , Florence Henderson , Gabrielle Anwar, Genevieve Cortese, Graham Nash, Jack Johnson, Jack Wagner, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, James Galanos, James Loney, Jared Padalecki, Jarret Stoll, Jeffrey Donovan, Jennifer Gareis, Jimmy Kimmel, Joan Rivers, Joan Rivers, Joshua Morrow, Joy Behar, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Junior Seau, Justin Chambers, Kaitlyn Gilliland, Kate Gosslin, Katherine Kelly Lang, Ken Olin, Kirsten Storms, Kym Johnson, Lara Spencer, Lauren Petty, Lesley-Anne Down, Louis Van Amstel, Maria Shriver, Mario Lopez, Mariska Hargitay, Mark Harmon, Markie Post, Marlee Matlin, Martha Williamson, Mary Hart, Melissa Rivers, Mike Smith, Monique Coleman, Niecy Nash, Pam Dawber, Paul Wylie, Quinton Aaron, Rachel Hunter, Samantha Harris, Sarah Joy Brown, Slash, Sylvia Lopez, Taboo, Tiler Peck, Tony Valdez, Wayne Newton, Wendy Williams, Taboo, Sugar Ray Leonard, Halle Barry, Michaela Pereira, Susan Hirasuna, Ed Ruscha, Tricia O’Kelley, Gavin DeGraw, Cast of Rent, Dax Holt, Harvey Levin, Vera Jimenez, Chuck Henry, Richard Gililand, Debby Ryan, Jason Dolley, Bridgit Mendler, Nicole Anderson, Chelsea Staub, Mitchel Musso, and Larramie "Doc" Shaw.

Meet the Imari Tones, a Japanese Christian rock band
http://www.imaritones.net/
http://www.myspace.com/imaritones
Here comes something you don’t see every day – a Christian rock band from Japan!
But IMARi ToNES is certainly not a joke, nor is this collection of giften Japanese musicians, led by Van Halen inspired guitarist Tak Nakamine, a novelty act.
Far from it. Because these boys from Yokohama sure know how to rock a party. Or indeed a church.
Being almost certainly the first band of its kind to come from the land of the rising sun, IMARi ToNES has its work cut out to win over a native audience unused to the subtleties of the Christian Rock sound. But they are making inroads both in their native land and the United States.
Word of mouth about this incendiary live act is spreading, backed by the power chords, smoking hot licks and uplifting vocals of Tak and his band.
And to back up the buzz, the band is releasing two new live albums – ‘IMARi ToNES in Glory Zone’ and ‘Dosamawari Live 2010’. Both showcase what makes this band the special, unique musical and spiritual force that it is. What’s more, both albums are free to download from the band’s website.
Formed in 2004, IMARi ToNES already has 10 albums under its belt, all self-penned and produced. But now the time has come for the band to break into the mainstream and carry its message of Christian love and powerful rock to the masses.
Inspired as much by Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Judas Priest as by their religion, the songs on these albums are nothing like the Christian music that most of America knows. And they’re all the better for it.
These albums will appeal to the believer who thinks that church can rock, while their raw musical power may even be enough to convert the non-believers in the band’s native Japan.
Music is always a powerful force. And in these two albums, IMARi ToNES show just how powerful that force can be.

Meat Loaf on QVC Tuesday
Larger-than-life singer and pop icon Meat Loaf, whose impassioned voice has helped him soar to 60 million worldwide album sales through the course his career, is scheduled to appear on QVC May 4 at 12 PM (ET) during the multimedia retailer’s QCheck broadcast.
During the show, Meat Loaf is scheduled to perform his brand new song “Los Angeloser” from his much-anticipated forthcoming album, Hang Cool Teddy Bear, due to hit retail on May 11. He will also perform his biggest crowd pleaser, the classic and definitive anthem, “Paradise by the Dashboard Light.”
In addition to performing, Meat Loaf will also offer viewers the opportunity to purchase Hang Cool Teddy Bear, which has been specially packaged for QVC with a bonus disc of classic live material, one week before its street date.
“Hang Cool Teddy Bear is the most important record of my life,” Meat Loaf said, his pride in his latest musical creation totally evident. He continued, “This will be the first live performance of any song from this album in the world. I'm excited to be able to share this extraordinary moment with QVC and reach direct into the homes of all my fans.”
Hang Cool Teddy Bear was produced by Rob Cavallo, who has worked with the likes of Dave Matthews, Kid Rock, My Chemical Romance and Paramore, and features a stellar array of big-name guests, including Steve Vai, former Queen guitarist Brian May, American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, actor/comedian/musician Jack Black and House star Hugh Laurie. Despite the jaw-dropping guest list, the album is truly Meat Loaf in all his glory: big, dramatic rock ‘n’ roll that will appeal to fans of all ages. It’s truly a timeless yet modern representation of the man and his voice. Hang Cool Teddy Bear will be released by Roadrunner/Loud & Proud Records.
