BamaJammers encouraged to "go green" at festival

Ronnie Gilley Entertainment (producers of the Verizon Wireless BamaJam Music & Arts Festival), in partnership with Anheuser-Busch Recycling (A-BR), Adams Beverages and Martin Environmental Services, will open the recycling cans to encourage all Verizon Wireless BamaJammers to “go green” at this year’s festival.

Verizon Wireless BamaJammers will have the opportunity to not only enjoy some of the world’s best entertainment (featuring performances by more than 30 acts including Kid Rock, Taylor Swift, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson and The Black Crowes) but also show their support in creating a healthy environment at the Verizon Wireless BamaJam Music & Arts Festival scheduled to take place June 4-6, 2009 in Enterprise, Alabama.

“There is no doubt, with more than 200,000 attendees expected, that an event like this generates a whole lot of plastic and aluminum beverage and cardboard food containers that can indeed be recycled,” Ronnie Gilley (CEO, Ronnie Gilley Entertainment) said. “Because this is a neighborhood event, we want to be community and environmentally conscious. We’re proud to work with Anheuser-Busch Recycling to consider Mother Nature and do our part.”

“Going Green” will be made easy at the Verizon Wireless BamaJam Music & Arts Festival. A number of containers will be conveniently and strategically placed throughout the grounds to encourage guests to recycle their food and beverage containers. Volunteers will canvass the sprawling 600 acres to reward those BamaJammers who are “discovered” making a conscious effort to participate in the recycling program and will become eligible to win a guitar autographed by a Verizon Wireless BamaJam performing artist.

“We encourage all festival-goers to participate in this effort to ‘think green’ at the Verizon Wireless BamaJam,” added Gilley. “BamaJammers’ participation will keep a significant amount of recyclable containers from being dumped in the landfill.”

Anheuser-Busch Recycling is among the largest recyclers of aluminum cans in the world. Through a widespread network of aluminum recycling suppliers, Anheuser-Busch recycles more than 27 billion cans annually (more cans than the breweries package each year). A-BR supports a network of more than 700 suppliers such as the Verizon Wireless BamaJam Music & Arts Festival. “We hope to set a precedent for all music festivals,” added Jim Martin of Martin Environmental Services. “With the support of A-BR, we have the manpower and equipment to make history with the quantities that we recycle.”
