"CREATING WEARABLE ART FOR YOUR FEET"

Margot Silk Forrest is an artisan, writer, crafts teacher, and the author of "Sassy Feet! "How to Paint, Bead, Bedeck, and Embellish Your Shoes." She teaches at wearable art groups, quilting guilds, and costuming conferences. Her work appears frequently in Altered Couture magazine, and three pairs of her shoes were chosen for the acclaimed International Wearable Art Show, "Wearable Expressions 2008". From Jan. 20th to May 22nd, six pairs of "Sassy Feet!" shoes were on display at "Art2WearAccotrements: The Many Facets of Adornment" at the LAX/Ontario International Airport.

Margot will show us how to transform plain (or just plain old) shoes, boots, and sandals into fabulous footwear using inexpensive supplies and skills you already have. She will be presenting a trunk show, slide show with before-and-after photos of painted and embellished shoes, and handouts on what paints work best and how to attach embellishments.

Margot's shoes can be seen online at www.sassyfeet.com and www.silkforrestbridal.com

AFTERNOON PROGRAM – 1:00 P.M.: Show and Tell. Bring your recent creations- especially those mare or inspired by WAC workshops.

THIS MONTH'S WORKSHOP:
AUGUST 16
MARGO SILK FOREST
SASSY FEET! HOW TO PAINT, BEAD, BEDECK AND EMBELLISH YOUR SHOES WORKSHOP

Ever wanted to design your own shoes? Margot Silk Forrest will show you how to stretch your imagination and your budget by transforming plain (or just plain old) shoes into one-of-a-kind works of wearable art. You will learn techniques for painting shoes, sandals, and boots made of smooth leather, man-made leather, and fabric.

You can pick a theme for your shoes, center the design around a fabulous embellishment or a favorite color, or create your design as you go. For inspiration, Margot will bring a trunk show of shoes, boots, and sandals she has made. To see examples of her work go to the Gallery at www.sassyfeet.com

You'll learn how to paint, color block, or stencil your shoes in one or more colors, and attach beads, buttons, charms, piping, chains, appliqués, fabric, leather scraps, even feathers and fur! You can shop from Margot's private stash.

You won't believe how much fun it is to create art on a whole new kind of canvas one that will literally let you strut your stuff.

There are still openings for this class.

LOCATION: Claremont Forum, Claremont, CA
COST: $60 per day for members, $70 per day for non-members
