Already a star on the rise in Europe, the multi-instrumentalist and singer- songwriter known as Phillipa "Pip" Brown (a.k.a Ladyhawke) is setting her sights on North America with the release of Ladyhawke- Special Edition followed by her first major tour this side of the pond. Already a huge fan, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton handpicked Ladyhawke to co-headline the 17 date tour with Ida Maria hitting select cities across the U.S. and Canada. (See full tour schedule below. Bursting with energy and attitude, this special edition package expands on the 12 hook laden electro-pop tracks from her 2008 self-titled debut, Ladyhawke by adding 5 extra songs. “Oh My” (previously a bonus track in the UK) and “Danny and Jenny” (from her Paris Is Burning EP) are included as well as acoustic versions of the irresistible “Paris Is Burning”, the fist pumping “Dusk Till Dawn” and the alternative pop anthem “My Delirium.” Ladyhawke wrote, arranged and performed on every song on the CD which was recorded in London.
Teaming her sultry vocals with pop music fuelled by synth melodies and infectious hooks; Ladyhawke easily rocks the nostalgic sound of the 70s and 80s while maintaining a fresh current sound. The final result is an album blending serious song crafting with elements of vintage pop, electro and rock reminiscent of Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar, The Pretenders and Blondie. Or as Pip put it, “I wanted to make music that could put a smile on people’s faces and give them a feeling of nostalgia even though they may be hearing my songs for the first time”.
Making her way to the US, “Ladyhawke is set to conquer the world” (Cream Magazine). Major buzz was initially created after performing at Perez Hilton’s 2009 SXSW party of which Spin Magazine named her “one of the groups to watch” also noting; “Ladyhawke is revamping the synth-driven '80s sound… with sharper beats and guitars, glossier production, and new millennial stomp and sass.” Of touring the U.S. Ladyhawke noted; “I get so much support and positive response from people in the States.
