Seasonal Gardener class at the Arboretum Sunday

Come learn the essentials of gardening in tune with the seasons. In each of these four workshops, the highpoints of major tasks and projects best suited to the specific time of year will be covered. Gardening in Southern California requires a bit of finesse and know-how in anticipation of the upcoming season, and these workshops will help you to fine tune your horticultural calendar.

Steve is a landscape designer, frequent lecturer and President of the Southern California Horticultural Society.

Winter - Sunday, January 10: Palm Room
* The importance of pruning winter dormant plants
* Using the rain - from barrels and cisterns to re-directing runoff
* Winter color/winter produce

Spring - Sunday, March 28: Palm Room
*A quick walk around The Arboretum to see what's in bloom
and if it can work in your yard
* Getting ready for summer-from tomatoes to mulching
* The 2nd Bulb season

Summer - Sunday, June 27: Palm Room
* Using water wisely-how to irrigate responsibly
* Taking full advantage of shade from plants to seating
* Plants for sun & heat and the best of the vegetable/herb garden
