Musicians Institute launches scholarship competition

Expanding worldwide to allow songwriter-performers to submit videos of their original material online, The Full Ride Scholarship Competition from Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music (MI) opens to applicants today, December 8, 2010 through MI's partnership with Sonicbids, the leading matchmaking site for bands and music promoters, the public will also have their say in the choice of scholarship winners who are eligible to receive full MI tuition and up to $10,000 in living expenses, valued at $55,000 via the Sonicbids website http://www.fullride.sonicbids.com.

From January 28 until February 11, 2011, anyone may vote online for favorite submissions at http://www.fullride.sonicbids.com.

Semifinalists are drawn from the voters’ top 50 favorite entries and sent for review to MI’s faculty judging panel. Finalists will be notified on February 18, and flown to Los Angeles for a preparatory session and final competition concert in front of the judging panel at the Musicians Institute campus on February 25, 2011.

MI and Sonicbids will announce the three scholarship winners on Monday, February 16, 2011. The first-prize winner receives a full scholarship to any MI Associate Degree or Certificate Program, plus $10,000 in living expenses; first runner-up receives a full scholarship to any MI Associate Degree or Certificate Program; and second runner-up receives a 50% tuition credit to any MI Associate Degree or Certificate Program.

Applicants may submit their best performance videos at fullride.sonicbids.com starting on December 8, 2010 and until submissions close on January 25, 2011. Only original material, composed by the applicant, will be accepted for the contest. Those who would like to vote on the contest entries may sign up there to receive an email reminder when the voting starts.
