MORNING PROGRAM - 10:30 - NOON: MARCY TILTON
GARMENT DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
Marcy Tilton is a multi-talented artist who inspires and ignites others to unleash their creativity in useful, everyday and playful ways. Recognized nationally as a generous and innovative teacher, Marcy is a fiber artist, author and designer.

In 1981, she opened “The Sewing Workshop” in San Francisco, which fulfilled one of her dreams, to create a business based on her passion for combining teaching and learning with creativity. It was the beginning of an exciting era. “The Sewing Workshop” took on a life of its own, becoming a gathering center for talented teachers and people who loved learning about fiber arts ranging from beginning sewing to a myriad of classes in textiles, home decor and wearable art.

In 1993, she sold “The Sewing Workshop” and moved to a small community in Southwest Oregon. The focus of her work changed again, but still revolved around a needle and thread. Instead of an urban office, she created a studio in the woods and began to shift her focus from technical expertise to investigating her own creative process.

Today she designs her own line of clothing and home decorating patterns for Vogue Patterns featuring embellishment & surface design. And she and Diane Ericson conduct DESIGN OUTSIDE THE LINES creativity/sewing/fiber retreats nationally. She is a textile adventuress, teaching and traveling internationally, uncovering and sharing extraordinary secrets of place, sources and inspiration.

AFTERNOON PROGRAM– 1:00PM
SHOW AND TELL – Bring wearable art that you have made and tell us about it.
AFTERNOON SPEAKER – LINDA MEDINA
Linda Medina is a knitwear and needlework designer. Her work has been featured in all the leading knitting magazines, primarily Vogue Knitting and other Vogue publications, as well as 9 books. Currently she is working on a book of cross-over techniques such as shibori and discharge dyeing, quilting and fabric manipulation for knitters. She recently released her own line of hand knit, machine knit, and crochet patterns, and pre-finished purse liners at Stitches West in Santa Clara, CA. They are available at FoxyKnits.com and selected stores.
