TUMBLEWEED ROB WOLFSKILL, Leader of THE TUMBLING TUMBLEWEEDS has gone solo with his new project, TUMBLEWEED ROB & THE SOUTHWEST JUNCTION and is currently in production with his first solo CD titled, “A FORK IN THE ROAD,” set for release in early 2013. Rob’s new solo venture features himself with a new band called, THE SOUTHWEST JUNCTION. Rob’s new act will be debuting at THE COFFEE GALLERY BACKSTAGE in Altadena with special guest and friend, RAY DOYLE, formerly of WYLIE AND THE WILD WEST opening on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 8:00 pm.  Tickets are $20.00.

Tumbleweed Rob Wolfskill is a veteran performer who is best known as the Leader of one of the top acts in the Western Music genre called The Tumbling Tumbleweeds. Rob founded, produced and directed the group since its inception in 2005 leading the group to win several awards including the Academy of Western Artists Western Music Group of the Year, the Western Music Association Crescendo Award for Most Promising Talent and the Western Music Association Best Traditional Album by a Group Award.  Rob now embarks on a new journey as a solo-artist with his new project called Tumbleweed Rob & The Southwest Junction, setting his sights on his own life span of influences, from his Southwestern American roots to the music of his formative years. The members of Rob’s new band are Tumbleweeds alumni, Dan Dungan on bass, Jesse Olema on fiddle plus new members Craig Ferguson and John Lambdin switching off on guitar.

Born in Los Angeles, CA and a descendent of the Chiricahua Red Paint Apache people Rob has very strong ties to his heritage and a strong affection for the American Southwest.  His songwriting style is both very personal and also very heavily influenced by the Acoustic Roots Music he has been drawn to throughout his life time.

Rob says, “Acoustic Music has a way of really touching your soul.  I think the organics of acoustic instruments and the natural materials they are made of truly have a way of reaching us in a very primal way.  Don’t get me wrong, I can enjoy Electronica just as much as anyone but for me, Acoustic Music dwells most harmoniously with that deep affection we feel for music in our hearts.”  With Rob’s new solo project, Tumbleweed Rob & The Southwest Junction, he hopes to explore a more personal side of his artistic calling and give the folks who have come to know him thus far a closer look at who he is as an artist and as a person.  “It’s easy to hide behind characters as cartoony and big asThe Tumbling Tumbleweeds. It’s time to step out from behind the plaid and let people in a bit,” Says Rob, “It’s more interesting for me and hopefully it will be more interesting for my audience as well.”

Although Rob is a Singer-Songwriter of original works he still considers himself a “tribute artist” citing all the musical figures in his life who have had such a huge impact on him and who have influenced his own musical style.  “I think we’re all a composite of everyone who has influenced us in our lives.  That’s one of the beautiful things about being an artist and a human being, along with being a constant work in progress, we’re all a part of each other in some way.”

Tumbleweed Rob & The Southwest Junction and Ray Doyle live at the Coffee Gallery Backstage located at 2029 N. Lake Ave., Altadena, CA 91001 on Friday, November 9, 2012.  Show Time is 8:00 PM.  Tickets are $20.00.  Call (626) 798-6236 for reservations.  For more information go to www.coffeegallery.com  orwww.tumbleweedrob.com .
