Many of you may have been wondering whether this weekend’s closure of a section of the 405 Freeway here in Los Angeles constitutes another “Carmageddon”. Sure, some of us have been hearing about this closure for weeks now, but it hasn’t been promoted properly, often enough, as Carmageddon II.
Paddy’s Pig, of course, has warm feelings about recent –ageddons. We played at the Tam O’Shanter for the first big Carmageddon, and then last May we had our “Do Your Worst” cd release show at the Tam O’Shanter on the exact date some were calling The End Of The World, Armageddon, the Rapture, and so on. Of course, far more lingering amazement resulted from our shows than from the –ageddons, which is a key reason why we’re returning to the Tam for Carmageddon II this Saturday.

Note, also, that all this –ageddon convergence is too much for our guitarist Marty, and he has absconded to France for the time being. Frankly, this is what we all should be doing, but we’ll press on and force Mike to play mostly guitar while Jon O’Hara steps in to save the day with his bass talents.
