JOYCE MANOR have premiered their first ever music video today on Filter Magazine, it can be seen at http://tinyurl.com/9cxk84g. Created entirely by award winning Toronto filmmaker Grandson and Son, the video combines "Drainage" and "If I Needed You There", two songs from their latest release, Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired. All the puppets were specially created for the video and all the puppetry was done by Grandson and Son. "My neighbours were just visited by Children's Services over the wee one's black eye a few days before and there was talk of them taking their kids away. I can vouch that there was nothing bad going on. The idea came to me shortly after," said Grandson and Son on the concept behind the video. "Grandson and Son emailed us with a 20 second video clip... we were intrigued to say the least, so we let them do their thing. It came out exactly as I would have liked it to," says Joyce Manor bassist Matt Ebert. "I'm proud to have our music serve as the soundtrack to this video!"
The band, who is set to depart for their first tour of Europe this week, has also announced several new North American tour dates this fall, including appearances at Fun Fun Fun Fest, Fest 11 and dates with Burning Love and Hop Along (tour dates below). Since releasing their sophomore album Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired on Asian Man Records in April of this year to critical acclaim, Joyce Manor has been on the road virtually non-stop with the likes of Against Me!, Andrew Jackson Jihad and Algernon Cadwallader.
"The opportunities we've been given since the new record came out have been really exciting," says Ebert. Already selling through numerous pressings since it was first released, Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired has critics everywhere raving about the band. "Their impeccable songwriting and hardcore succinctness earn the band their distinction as awesome," claims The Portland Mercury, while Alternative Press heralds, "On Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired, Joyce Manor accomplish in 13 minutes what takes lesser bands their whole careers to do. They both expand the current boundaries of their internet-chosen subgenre and push themselves into completely new sonic territory. The results are extraordinary."
Their sophomore record is the follow-up to their 2011 self-titled full-length, released on 6131 Records. It was named Punknews' 2011 Album of the Year as the buzz about the band quickly reached fever pitch everywhere from LA Weekly to AbsolutePunk. All this from a band who describes themselves as "four tired guys with a taste for bad chinese food, Thin Lizzy guitar solos and calling 'shotgun'."
Joyce Manor is Barry Johnson, Matt Ebert, Chase Knobbe, and Kurt Walcher. Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired was recorded at Atomic Garden Studios in Palo Alto, CA with Jack Shirley.
