Join us at Pasadena’s beloved El Portal Restaurant for good food and drink, plus a presentation and book signing with Gustavo Arellano, editor of the Orange County Weekly and author of the popular column, ¡Ask a Mexican!
We’ll start at 6:30 pm with a short cooking demonstration of one of El Portal’s favorite dishes, followed by a light buffet supper. No host bar.
At 7:30 pm, Gustavo will charm us with a powerpoint program reflecting the research -- and witticisms -- found in his new book Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America. A signing follows; copies of the book will be available for purchase.
Gustavo Arellano’s ¡Ask a Mexican! column has a circulation of more than two million in thirty-eight markets (and counting). He has received the President’s Award from the Los Angeles Press Club, an Impact Award from the National Hispanic Media Coalition, and a 2008 Latino Spirit Award from the California State legislature. Arellano has appeared on the Today show, Nightline, NPR’s Talk of the Nation, and The Colbert Report. For more information, visit AskAMexican.net.
