Fishtank Ensemble in Pasadena April 20

Eclectic gypsy jazz band Fishtank Ensemble will perform at Caltech on Saturday, April 20 at 8:00 PM. The performance will be in Beckman Institute Auditorium on the Caltech campus, at 400 South Wilson Avenue in Pasadena.

Fishtank Ensemble features Fabrice Martinez (violin and violintromba, Ursula Knudson (Saw, vocals, and violin), Douglas “douje” Smolens (Guitar), and Djordje Stijepovic (Bass.)  They are fun to watch, and their musical diversity features numerous styles, includingWorld, Pop, Rock, Flamenco, Folk, Jazz, Gypsy, Rockabilly, Manouche, Tango, and Indian, groove music, but they draw their inspiration from the Romani (or gypsy) people.  From the slapping of the upright bass to the playing of the saw and Ursula’s sassy vocals, they have a sound like no other act that the Folk Music Society has presented and we eagerly await their performance.  Their web site is www.fishtankensemble.com
