Cheap Trick to release new album July 21

Cheap Trick’s new album The Latest is set for a national retail release on July 21st via the band’s own label Cheap Trick Unlimited distributed by RED. With exclusive availability since June 23rd through the band’s website and Amazon.com, the new outing has garnered positive reviews from critics and fans alike.

The Associated Press declares the album “sounds like a bunch of amped-up 20-year olds gleefully bashing away in a garage for nothing more than the sheer joy of plugging in, turning it up all the way and rocking out.”

“The Latest is vintage Cheap Trick - power pop delivered with humor, bravado and confidence, the guitars roaring, Robin Zander’s voice high in flight,” states The Wall Street Journal.

The band is also releasing The Latest on limited edition vinyl and 8-track through their official website.

Recently, Robin Zander and Rick Nielsen made a special appearance on The Colbert Report as Stephen Colbert is quite a fan of the 8-track format and the band. While Cheap Trick can be heard every night as creators of the show’s theme song, they gave the Colbert Nation a stripped-down version of the new track “Sick Man of Europe.”

On June 23rd, Cheap Trick kicked off their national tour alongside Def Leppard to rave reviews. RollingStone.com notes “their bracing blend of Beatlesque hooks and high voltage riffs still rocks righteously” and the Cleveland Scene proclaims, “Robin Zander has never sounded better vocally and the new material from their fresh release entitled The Latest meshed well with their older material.”
