CMT's "Music City Madness" is back

CMT.com’s fourth annual MUSIC CITY MADNESS returned with superstar Reba as the host on Tuesday, July 14. The online contest will once again scour the nation in search of undiscovered singer/songwriters in a user-generated talent search. The competition offers up-and-coming artists a chance to showcase their talent and let fans narrow the field in an online battle of the bands.

One lucky winner will take home the title and win a chance to audition for label execs at The Valory Music Co., as well as a trip to CMT in Nashville to record Studio 330 Sessions and a backstage experience with the ultimate country entertainer, Reba, at one of her concerts.
For complete rules and information on how to enter MUSIC CITY MADNESS, visit madness.CMT.com.

As part of her involvement in this multi-platform promotion, Reba will serve as an online mentor and provide exclusive insight for the contestants via CMT.com video blogs that offer up tips from how to create a music video, to writing hit songs and building a music career. In addition, CMT has added stars Jack Ingram, Jewel, Justin Moore and Jimmy Wayne, who will support contestants throughout the competition.

CMT.com’s MUSIC CITY MADNESS will post the top 64 finalists to compete in a single-elimination, tournament-style contest that is voted online by the fans. Entrants can submit their original video performance July 14, 2009 through October 5, 2009. The 64 contenders will be revealed at CMT.com on October 20, 2009, where they will then compete over eight weeks. CMT.com visitors will narrow the field each week, and the grand prize winner will be announced in December.

The Valory Music Co. has signed on as the official record label this year, and Rhapsody has joined as a first time sponsor of the online contest. Last year, over 22 million votes were cast to name 33-year-old Atlanta resident Kurt Thomas the winner for his self-penned song, “Follow Your Lead.” As part of his prize, Thomas recorded an episode of CMT.com’s performance series STUDIO 330 SESSIONS, joining a lineup that includes such artists as Kris Kristofferson, John Rich, Jason Aldean and Zac Brown Band among many others.

CMT.com is America’s #1 country music website and garners more than 100 million video streams each year. The comprehensive site features the largest collection of country music videos online, along with breaking news, live performances, community features including blogs and much more.
