Daryl Hall on "Z Rock" Sunday

Legendary musician Daryl Hall is a good sport when it comes to playing himself in front of the camera, which is just what he will be doing with a cameo appearance on IFC’s critically-acclaimed comedy Z ROCK, this Sunday night (July 5) at 11 p.m. (ET/PT).

In the episode, Hall plays a former paramour of the band’s manager Dina (Lynne Koplitz), the one who got away… but did he really? Not if Dina has anything to do with it, as she tries to lure the reluctant superstar back into her arms again. Series regular Dave Navarro also returns, as the boys try to enlist him to contribute their rock band ZO2’s new sound.

“Taking part in Z ROCK was a real fun experience,” says Hall. “And playing myself turns out to be not too much of a stretch for me.”

Said Paulie Z: “We’re such fans of Daryl Hall that it was a thrill to have him take part in our show. He was a real trouper on the set.”

The hit comedy is loosely based on the real lives of New York-based brothers Paulie Z and David Z along with longtime friend Joey Cassata, who form the rock band ZO2 by night, while by day, the trio are the Z Brothers, a kids’ party band, where they often interrupt their sets by seducing the parents. Season two continues its satirical look at the trials and triumphs of the rock ‘n’ roll dream, giving viewers a backstage pass into the band’s struggles to become rock stars, which are often interrupted by the sobering realities of everyday life. Among those who have also made cameos on the show are Joan Rivers, Sebastian Bach, John Popper, Dave Attell, Gilbert Gottfriend, Dee Snider and Frank Stallone.

Lately, Daryl has been working on his critically acclaimed online series, Live From Daryl’s House www.livefromdarylshouse.com. The show has featured a mix of well-known performers like Nick Lowe, K.T. Tunstall, Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy, Finger Eleven’s James Black and Rick Jackett and the Bacon Brothers, along with newcomers such as Philly soul singer Mutlu, Canadian techno-rockers Chromeo, MySpace pop-rock phenom Eric Hutchinson, Cash Money rocker Kevin Rudolf, Wind-up Records’ Chicago rockers Company of Thieves, Bay Area singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson, Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek of The Doors and, most recently, Mercury Records sensation Parachute.
