Dead Swans post new song on MySpace

Poised to be 2009’s breakout UK band, Dead Swans have posted a song off of their Bridge Nine debut album Sleepwalkers on their MySpace page now – head over to www.MySpace.com/TheDeadSwans to check out “Ivy Archway”.

Formed in 2006, Dead Swans have been making a name throughout the UK and Europe with their ferocious blend of visceral hardcore. Originally started as a side project for the Brighton & London based quintet, their first demo, the Southern Blue EP, was released on Thirty Days of Night and was incredibly well received in their local scene. Shortly thereafter, the band started to garner national attention with the release of a split 7” with Architects.

With a scant nine songs released, Dead Swans started touring, and consequently sharing the stage with a very impressive list of bands: Bridge Nine’s Ruiner and Verse, to Blacklisted, Integrity, Cancer Bats, and fellow Brits Gallows. In the Fall of 2008, this attention started to come to a head. Following praise from every British music press outpost, Dead Swans were nominated for a Kerrang! Award as the Best British Newcomer, which was both as surprising as it was flattering as the band had only a demo and split 7” release under their belt.

After the Kerrang! Awards, the band knew it was time to get their debut full-length in motion and the world was starting to pay attention.

As Bridge Nine owner Chris Wrenn tells it, “We kept having bands come home and say, ‘There’s this band from the UK-you need to check them out.’ We had worked with bands from the Europe on licensing deals, but we were really excited to find the right band for a worldwide deal, and Dead Swans was obviously it.”

And Sleepwalkers is every bit the explosive debut as one would expect from Dead Swans.

Taking a discordance and melody that borrows influence from Background Music as much as My War, Dead Swans influences range far beyond just hardcore and punk. With Jay Maas at the Getaway Group at the helm, Dead Swans were able to hone their sound to perfect the balance of gritty and precise hardcore with a punk and metallic edge on all sides. Sleepwalkers hits stores on August 11th via Bridge Nine Records.
