Kings of Modesty release debut album and planning US tour

Finland’s own Kings of Modesty has roots that run deep - which stretch across such colorfully-named towns as Jarvenpaa and Kerava - and is a name that will most certainly soon be familiar with headbangers worldwide. Hammering melodic metal - in the vein of Queensryche, Dream Theater, and Kamelot - is the name of the game here, and their full-length debut, "Hell or Highwater," is all the proof you’ll need.

“Energy and melody in metal songs that every rocker from the street cant relate to,” is how singer Jason Flinck describes the band’s music. “Honest metal with modest minds!”

Within a month of the band completing their debut (in June 2009), the band signed a European licensing deal with Escape Music in the UK, who issued the disc in September (which spawned the rock radio favorite, “Never Touched the Rainbow”). But with many of their chief influences US-based, the group has their sights also set on breaking big in America, and have taken an important first step by signing on with Worldsound, which will be giving the album a US release on May 4, 2010. The agreement stretches beyond just the US, as it also includes sales and distribution in the territories of Japan and Canada, and digital distribution worldwide.

The group - which includes members Flinck, Samuel Hjelt (guitar), Mikael Hjelt (keyboards), Henrik Tuura (bass), and Raino Simoinen (drums) - recently completed their “Hell or Highwater European Tour,” playing 18 concerts in 11 countries, and supporting Finnish Metal Queen, Tarja Turunen. The tour also featured dates supporting metal guitar legend Michael Schenker (including a show-stopping performance in London, England).

And Kings of Modesty’s tour will not end there, as they are right now gearing up to hit the States in Canada later in 2010, to support “Hell or Highwater.”

“Our management is arranging tours as we speak,” explains Flinck. “To do as much touring as possible and promo for our debut album. In between, we are writing new material for our second album, which will be released after these commitments - maybe early 2011.”

One thing is for certain, headbangers worldwide are destined to hear a lot more from Kings of Modesty. Without a doubt, these Finnish metal kings are about to go global!
