This week, iTunes will spotlight the new album by Fran Healy, lead singer / songwriter of acclaimed Scottish rock band Travis, by offering the emotive Healy / Neko Case duet "Sing Me To Sleep" for free download.
The track, which comes from Healy's debut solo album WRECKORDER, will be available as "Single Of The Week" through November 8th.
In support of the album The San Francisco Chronicle praised as Healy's "most inspired since Travis' 1999 classic 'The Man Who,'" Healy will join Brandon Flowers of The Killers for a two-week tour beginning November 9th in Pomona, CA. Healy will embark on a headlining tour immediately afterwards that will include several in-store performances and signings.
Among many other accolades, NPR raved, "Healy's distinctly emotive vocals have been a key element in Travis' sound - upbeat and sunny while at the same time introspective and touching. That versatility is evident in Healy's first solo release." USA Today goes on to say Healy's "soulful stamp remains firmly in place" while Filter Magazine praises his "effortless craftsmanship and wide range ... that work to perfection." Alternative Press adds that WRECKORDER "gives Healy the chance to stretch his range with positive results.
WRECKORDER is a worthy debut." The London Times simply says Healy's solo debut "returns the Scotsman to his best."
