He Is We to release new album and tour

Alt-pop duo HE IS WE disagree about how much pressure was on them while they put together their much-anticipated debut album MY FOREVER.

"It wasn't hard at all," explains vocalist Rachel Taylor. "We chose the songs that we felt would represent us the best!"

The other half of the duo Trevor Kelly, counters, "Not necessarily. We did have a huge slew of songs, some we were personally attached to more than others, but I think we nailed the ones we absolutely love."

Judging from the ultimately agreeable, pristine pop of the resulting album, they chose well... VERY well.

Slated for digital release on November 23, 2010 via Universal Motown in a partnership with FrameworkNY, the album is the culmination of the last two amazing years in the life of the two friends who met in a music store, wrote a couple of great songs that got them crowned as PureVolume's #1 Unsigned Artist of 2009, and signed a major label deal - not too bad for these modest kids from the Pacific Northwest.

With over 2.6 million plays and over 160,000 downloads on Purevolume alone, He Is We posted a free download of the Old Demos EP for a limited time as a thank you to their fans, which has received over 50,000 downloads to date.

My Forever is a journey through life and love practically ripped from the pages of Rachel's diary, paired with a soundtrack that's captivatingly catchy and musically adept. From the harmony-laden kickoff intro of "Forever and Ever," the album launches into ten tracks of alt-pop melodicism that's refreshing and crisp, all anchored with Rachel's poignant prose.

"This song is about my first real 'in love' experience and it's so real to me," she says. "It's a very personal song."

The epically soaring pop of "All About Us" showcases the unlikely pairing of Rachel and Underoath's Aaron Gillespie and creates a song that's hard to shake.

"We had a mutual friend, our producer Aaron Sprinkle," she says. "It was incredible and such an awesome opportunity to have such a talented artist of a different genre be a part of our process."
The immediately infectious and fan favorite "Happily Ever After" offers a glimpse into the source of her unconventional songwriting and the tricky interplay of words.

"I love rap and hiphop," she says quite surprisingly. "Jay-Z is a huge inspiration. Rappers inspire the way I write my lyrics. Everything they write is so real, everything they rap is so raw. It's something they've lived, and that's exactly how I want to write. The rhythm and the rhymes are so powerful."

Equally surprising is Trevor's inspiration for his intricate guitarwork.

"If you listen to our music, you can tell Trevor loves metal. He uses alternate picking and everything is played in dropped D tuning [alternate tuning style in which the lowest string is tuned down one whole step]. You can hear it most when we go into halftime. All he learned musically comes from metal."

Inking a deal earlier this year with Universal Motown in a partnership with FrameworkNY, He Is We quickly set out to work on My Forever, enlisting producers Casey Bates (Chiodos, Portugal. The Man, Foxy Shazaam) and Aaron Sprinkle (The Almost, Eisley, Pedro The Lion, Mae) to help harness their sound, with additional recording done in New York City with Dan Romer (Ingrid Michaelson). The band spent the Summer and Fall roadtesting the new songs while on tours with Bobby Long, Andrew Belle and are currently wrapping up the last leg of a six week national tour with The Rocket Summer. My Forever will be released digitally on November 23, 2010.
