Mariachi Navidad at San Manuel Dec. 23

Thursday, December 23, San Manuel is proud to present Mariachi Navidad featuring Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez and Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles, two of the best, most popular mariachi groups in Southern California. Also performing will be special guests, Angeles Ochoa, and rising star Lorenzo Negrete. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com and the San Manuel Box Office for $30, $40, and $50.

Mariachi Sol de Mexico® de Jose Hernandez
The philosophy of Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez is that all things are possible. They have virtually single-handedly grown mariachi music in new lands, in new musical genres, and in the hearts of new audiences. Jose formed Mariachi Sol de Mexico in 1981 with his charismatic trumpet playing, which made the group an instant and lasting success. They have played sold out venues from New York City to Santiago, Chile as well as being the first mariachi group to play in China and North Korea. The versatility to expand to new audiences has led to collaborations with the Beach Boys and Willie Nelson in America, and with such Latin icons as Vicente Fernandez and Juan Gabriel.

Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles®
Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles was formed in 1994 by mariachi maestro, Jose Hernandez. They became America’s first all-female mariachi ensemble bringing sensitivity, beauty, and warmth to the realm of Mexico’s musical heritage – a heritage that has long been male-dominated and in which these true female pioneers give voice to Latinas. The greatest testament to their success is that there are now many other all-female mariachi groups.

Angeles Ochoa
Destine for fame as a young girl, Angeles Ochoa used her charisma and enormous talents to captivate audiences throughout Baja and Los Angeles, CA. It was her participation in the Mexican television show “Siempe en Domingo” that made her a household name, and soon performing at festivals, which lead to her record deal. It wasn’t until the early 90’s that she claimed international success, when she toured Central America, South America, the United States and parts of Europe. To this day, Ochoa is still popular and continues to tour on the festival circuit.

Lorenzo Negrete
Rising star and Mexican born musician, Lorenzo Negrete is trained in popular music genres such as Tango, Trova, Ballad and Ranchera. His success came after performing on various stages in Mexico, the United States, and Central America; he caught the attention of the Telemundo Network. Negrete has since performed on Fiesta Broadway 2008, Concierto a Caballo, Viva Mexico: La Fiesta del Grito, and Fin de Ano 2009. He produced, co-wrote, and arranged his own album, “Sabores”.
