· Muddy Buddy is a one-of-a-kind event that involves athletes taking turns running and mountain biking over a six-mile course, interspersed with obstacles like climbing walls, cargo nets and balance beams. Just before they complete the race, participants have to slither through a 50 foot mud pit.

It’s a visually exciting race with crazy costumes, eccentric team names..all covered in mud.

The Columbia Mini Muddy Buddy event offers a short obstacle course before kids enter the mud pit and run across the same finish line as their parents.

The event benefits the Challenged Athletes Foundation, which provides grants to help people with physical disabilities pursue an active lifestyle.

Chad Crittenden was born and raised in California and discovered a love of sports and the outdoors at an early age. He spent his time playing soccer, tennis, running and mountain biking. In 2002, the father of two found a cancerous tumor on his foot and underwent an amputation of his leg just below the knee. Just 9 months later, he completed a triathlon and decided to take a chance. He tried out for the hit CBS show “Survivor” and was selected as a contestant on Season 9, “Survivor Vanatu.” After being voted off 9th, Crittenden has dedicated his time to the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) and raising awareness for cancer causes. He has been cancer free for over seven years.
