Reality Rocks Expo comes to LA April 9 & 10

Some of America’s favorite stars as seen on American Idol, The Real World, Survivor, The Amazing Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and top shows from Food Network, Cooking Channel and Bravo have been added to the previously announced lineup of stars, which include Nick Cannon, Adrianne Curry, Christopher Knight, DeAnna Pappas, Audrina Patridge, Eric Roberts and Karina Smirnoff for the inaugural Reality Rocks Expo, the ultimate reality TV Experience, about the fans, for the fans and by the fans.

The Reality Rocks Expo will feature two jam-packed days filled with previews of brand new television shows, meet & greets with everyone’s favorite reality TV stars, insightful panel discussions as well as a special VIP Awards program for the Reality Rocks Fan Awards honoring fans’ favorite talent and programs when the expo comes to the Los Angeles Convention Center April 9-10, 2011. FOX and AMERICAN IDOL will bring together some of the most popular contestants from television’s #1 hit series, including season 9 finalists Didi Benami, Michael Lynche, Paige Miles, Katie Stevens and Tim Urban for a panel discussion and autograph signing on Saturday, April 9th. They’ll catch up with fans, reveal what it was like to compete on American Idol and how one audition really did change the rest of their lives.

SURVIVOR and THE AMAZING RACE contestants will discuss “Surviving the Reality Race” at a panel on both Saturday and Sunday. Murtz Jaffer, the world’s foremost reality television expert and host of Reality Obsessed will moderate a discussion with Bob Crowley (Survivor Gabon winner), John Fincher (Survivor Samoa), Cristina Coria (Survivor Cook Islands) and Kynt & Vyxsin (Amazing Race) about their experiences on the shows they competed on, how they were cast for the parts, the toughest aspects of the experience and their advice for future reality show contestants. In addition, for his incomparable contributions to the reality television community, Jaffer will be presented with the “Special Achievement in Reality Reporting Award,” as part of the panel.

America’s favorite chefs and food personalities as seen on FOOD NETWORK, THE COOKING CHANNEL and BRAVO will come together for “TV Dinners: How Television Changed the Culinary Industry.” The panel will be a treat for the foodies at heart, featuring Stephane Bombet of LA-based Test Kitchen Restaurant, Betty Fraser as seen on season two of Top Chef as well as Top Chef Masters, Eric Greenspan of The Next Iron Chef, Ilan Hall as seen on Top Chef, Aida Mollenkamp as seen on Ask Aida and FoodCrafters, and moderator Jeffrey Saad of United Tastes of America. Many of these stars will be on hand for autograph sessions with fans on the fan-central floor.

Talent from STORAGE WARS, ANTIQUES ROADSHOW, METEORITE MEN and HOLLYWOOD TREASURE will be on hand to discuss antiques, collectibles and second-hand businesses at “Reality Programming for Collectors: It’s About the Stuff,” a panel discussion and audience Q&As on Saturday and Sunday. Gary Sohmers, appraiser of pop culture for 14 seasons of Antiques Roadshow will moderate the panel to include Dan & Laura Dotson, owners of American Auctioneers and stars of Storage Wars; Joe Maddalena, owner of Profiles in History and star of Hollywood Treasure; Gary Piattoni, professional appraiser for 14 seasons on Antiques Roadshow and Geoff Notkin, Co-Host of Meteorite Men and owner of Aerolite Meteorites, LLC., among others to be announced.

Some of the talent will also be available to give verbal valuations to attendees for their own TV-like experience with an expert and sign autographs.

Maddalena will also bring in one of his most prized ‘hollywood treasures,’ the most famous and magical car in cineama history, the original hero road-going “GEN 11” Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Car from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which will be on display for the duration of the expo. Maddalena will put the car up for auction later in the month and its presale auction estimate is $1-2MM.

Additional added talent for the autograph sessions and other events happening throughout the weekend include Chet Cannon of THE REAL WORLD, Ongina and Raven of RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE, Jenn Hoffman of THE APPRENTICE, Rock Harper of HELL’S KITCHEN, John Brenkus of ESPN’s SPORT SCIENCE, and cast members from the hit show PIT BULLS AND PAROLEES, with more added to the schedule daily at www.realityrocks.net.
