New memoir's proceeds benefit the Ralph Braun Foundation
Braun, the world’s largest manufacturer of wheelchair accessible vans, ramps and wheelchair lifts, announced today the availability of CEO Ralph Braun’s memoir, “Rise Above,” as an e-book, with proceeds benefiting The Ralph Braun Foundation. Capitalizing on the age-old saying, “necessity is the mother of invention,” Ralph Braun refused to let his disability hold him back and, in the process, brought independence and mobility to thousands. “Rise Above” tells the story of how self-reliance, common sense, and a refusal to accept the status quo led to one man’s triumph in business and in life. Tom Brokaw notes that “Rise Above” is a “wonderful story of how one man’s disability and ingenuity led to a better life for those unable to walk.” “The availability of Rise Above on digital platforms provides an ease of access that parallels BraunAbility’s commitment to accessibility,” says Nick Gutwein, president of Braun. “For more than 20 years, we have provided our customers with options to foster greater mobility and now readers can enjoy an uplifting, memorable book, whether in print or e-book form, at home or on-the-go.” The Ralph Braun Foundation, currently in development, is committed to assisting those who need accessible transportation and cannot afford it. Proceeds from “Rise Above,” now available in the iBook application, NOOKbook and Kindle Store, will be donated to the Foundation. About The Braun Corporation The Braun Corporation is the largest manufacturer of wheelchair accessible vans, ramps, and wheelchair lifts worldwide and enables people with physical disabilities to regain mobility and lead active and independent lives. The Indiana-based company was founded by Ralph Braun, who was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy at a young age and unable to walk by age 15. Ralph was motivated by his disability to invent the world’s first electric scooter (the Tri-Wheeler) and wheelchair lift (the Lift-A-Way) in his parents’ garage. Word spread and demand for the product increased, resulting in the birth of Save-A-Step Manufacturing, which ultimately became The Braun Corporation. The company offers the most diverse line of vehicle platforms in the industry, including the most popular minivan models from Dodge/Chrysler, Honda, and Toyota.
